Haha. Sort of how I feel too; may have to pick it up again when I beat this.

BTW, for those of you who have Vitas, that version is great as well.

I played some multiplayer with ransoms today on PS3, and much like the single player, it was a blast. I still like the single player more just because I like doing my own thing and collecting stuff, but multiplayer is great. It should be noted though that the entire game is multiplayer to some degree, and even in single player you can still compete against your friends in just about every category. Criterion has really set the bar for providing seemless competition amongst friends

I plan on picking this up for my Vita sometime soon. I play NFS:MW on 360 but I am always on the lookout for more Vita games.

Ok, went and got myself a copy. Traded in some old stuff and picked it up for $7. Have a week full refund policy too so I figure I can't lose. I will pop it in shortly and see how we go. Game sounds pretty rad though.

Re: Need for Speed: Most Wanted Impressions

I just posted this on another thread but here goes: I love the game. It really is Burnout Paradise 2 and that's not a bad thing.

However, I do have a problem with one aspect of the arcadishness that comes with both this and BP: I don't like these Tony Hawk style challenges where you have to drive on a roller coaster like track and then attempt to land on the roof of a shopping mall.

I love arcade racers but I would really like it if they tone down the whole OTT stunts, just my 2 cents.

And why don't we have cops online? Do you guys think they'll add that as DLC? Because if they could integrate NFS: HP's cat and mouse game with this, I think we would have a winner.

But man those skateboard stunts really take me away from the driving experience, yah I know I should probably stick with MC: LA or GT5 but still..who's with me?!

Re: Need for Speed: Most Wanted Impressions

I finally got around to playing online the other day and had a good time for the most part. The only thing that's kind of irritating is when you're in between events and guys just want to keep playing bumper cars. It was like this in Burnout Paradise as well, but I guess it's what I should expect with this type of game. I hate being pulled off to the side of the road and trying to do something in my autolog only to have someone wreck me and my menu gets canceled out. Not a big deal though.

It really comes down to finding a good room though. I was in a few where guys were talking and just trying to do the races and challenges without a lot of nonsense. Those were a lot of fun.

Does anyone know if there's a way that you can host a public room? All I've been able to do is invite friends to a private room and then we join a public one together. I mostly prefer to do racing and it would nice to be able to set that up.

I could do without some of the challenges myself, but they're not too bad. The only thing I don't really like is that there doesn't seem to be an incentive to complete them. In Paradise it told you how many you had done and you were working towards a goal. In this it seems like you're doing them just to do them.

It does keep track of how many billboards and security gates you have went through. The only thing I don't think it tracks that Paradise did is the jumps. There is no "stunt jump" category which is odd because the same kinds of jumps are in this game.

I am ok with the different challenges that you have to do. Put me in the category of wanting to focus on the actual races and such online instead of just wrecking but it's to be expected so I will just have to accept it and try not to think about it.

Re: Need for Speed: Most Wanted Impressions

The game is ok but not great. It feels like it would have been awesome 3 years ago but is kind of bygone now.

The city is big with tons of off road haunts but the whole thing feels too sterile. The most enjoyment I have had has been in provoking the cops and seeing how high I can get the heat level. The powerful E brake makes manoeuvrability easy and helps to turn the police in circles.

The cars handle just like an arcade racer which is fine but I dont think the models look very good nor do I like the grainy visuals and the extremely shiny roads. The smashes are good but it has all been seen before. But graphics aside I can see how many have compared this to BP but I think BP had a charm of its own and this one is kind of lost looking for an identity.

One of the best features is the whole online leaderboards thing where lots of stuff can be turned into a competition.

For an open world demolition derby it certainly isnt a bad game but it is a little underwhelming so far.

If this counts as a sports title, this may be my sports GOTY. I haven't had this much fun with a racer in YEARS! Graphics, gameplay, everything is fantastic. And Criterion deserves a damn award for their sound design. The cars, the soundtrack... and the way the way everything echoes as you drive through a tunnel... just absolutely incredible.

What an awesome experience and game.

I just won the #5 Most Wanted race against the Porsche 918 Spyder Concept with a blown tire for about 2 or 3 miles of the race. I was throwing sparks everywhere and the rim of the tire was glowing hot by the end of it. I had to make sure I took the turns a little more conservatively because the tire was gone. I just wanted to see how close I coud make it and never thought I would actually win it.

Thank you Porsche Carerra S for surviving long enough to win...lol

Got around to beating all of the Most Wanted races this weekend. Man that Bugatti can fly. There was a lot that I didn't do in single player though, so it should keep me occupied for a while.

One thing I can't figure out in multiplayer is how the speed points work. I had one round where I won 3 of the 5 events, but still finished in the overall standings in second by about 1800 points. I'm not sure if guys are getting a lot of points for wrecking people or what.

                            Fun game.

Re: Need for Speed: Most Wanted Impressions

Downloaded the DEMO and I want to give my impressions as a long time Midnight Club: Los Angeles player. First thing, the game looks great, the cars look great, the city looks great. The cars feel much different from MCLA and the sense of speed is much different.

This game has opened my eyes to appreciating a fictional city. The city looks great, I'm guess that it's pretty huge and in using a fictional city, you can have more bridges, tunnels and other things that translate well to the video game world. The race I was able to play was fun and had an exciting feel. I just zoom past them and cruise to victory it was a bit of a fight.

I have to say, the game is fun, the most wanted list is cool. But the lack of traffic in the beautiful city of Fairhaven is glaring to me. Coming from Midnight Club it's quite strange to be driving during the day time and seeing maybe one or two cars on the road. In Midnight Club you will hardly see one or two cars on the road, unless it was a back street in the middle of the night.

I've been told that the game doesn't have the customization that MCLA has, that is a serious downer. I only play two racers and that is MCLA and GRID. In MCLA, I buy or work for my favorite cars and customize as I want to. In GRID, I select the best car for upcoming race, having committed to memory how well a car hands curves or hills or it's ability to regain acceleration after losing it.

In a free roaming street racer, I want to able to have my car, truck or bike looking exactly like I want it to look. The lack of traffic makes me less likely to want to cruise around the city as I do in MCLA... Overall I like the game, but I'm not going to spend $60 on it. But it is a good game and has a good fun factor.
My search for a sequel to MCLA will continue. .
