Do you get the opportunity in Career to join existing race teams? Do you develop lasting relationships with other drivers as far as working together in drafting and such?

I haven't gotten that far in Career mode yet. No experience yet of joining existing race teams.

I haven't seen it as of yet.

I like it. Reminds me of NASCAR Thunder 2004's career mode.

Don't tease me! I loved NT2005's career mode!

Early threads on this game from owners of it are sounding pretty good! Certainly much better than last year, which was a 6 for me, post-3rd-patch.

My 'approach with caution' light is still on until I hear from you guys and others how the game is after tomorrow's patch.

Well Dan, you knew I was a big fan of last years driving model. The core of the game last year was such a good foundation...hoping they really built upon and fleshed out that foundation. I know for they busted their tail this year, so let's see what we have.

I ran a few races in the Chase for the Cup part of the Season mode. You can choose a real driver or created driver. I chose Dale Earnhardt Jr. and I've raced through Dover. It was short races but I was very curious about what drivers they chose and how those drivers ran this season. I didn't notice where I could set the standings before the Chase. It could have just been an overlook from me.

Brad K and Hamlin both had 4 wins this season. Johnson had a bunch of top 10's and top 5's but 0 wins. Kahne was not in the chase. Edwards was in the Chase but 0 wins.

Their is no feedback if a driver is a friend, rivalry or neutral. I believe the AI is just set up to drive like the real driver. They choose the same type of lines, drive aggressively during the race. All of the drivers drive more aggressively at the end so that is realistic.

Well did a race on champion difficulty at Kentucky and started in the back at 43rd and 38th. I am running with a controller and very limited assist. It was a fight to get around a car, let alone multiple cars at once.

The feel of the car is done very well again, and of course the game rewards you for hitting your break marks correctly and driving smart. Only a 13 lapper, so I will not get ahead of myself but very pleased with how my car handled, how the AI raced, and I really like the overall look of the game. Damage model seems like it is a pretty big upgrade over last year.

Will a longer race at Dega for you Dan, and let you know what I think. I also had a patch to download today.....nit sure if this is the day one patch or not.

I completely agree with everything you said. The assists when turned off make this game much more difficult. The most difficult thing is getting that drive off of the corner. I'm really enjoying the challenge of the game.

Ah...PS3. I wouldn't be surprised if you don't get it till tomorrow if it doesn't happen today. Sony can lag a little behind MS on such things, history has shown.

EDIT: I just referenced back to the official site thread I posted a link to on the first page of this thread. Looks like some of the early birds over there are saying the patch is live now. Nothing official stated from EUTECH yet.

I'm getting information directly from Bob... I figured I'd post it to help him capture his findings while he plays.

Online - You can do a 30min. practice, and allow or disallow the following...

• Tire wear from normal to x5
• No flags to full flags
• No cautions, quick cautions, or full cautions
• Damage and engine failures from off, to visual, to full.
• Drivers assist on or off.
• Custom setups on or off
• Grid order random, fastest practice lap, fastest lap reversed (the slowest guy starts first), skill rating or previous race results.

Online games require everyone to be in the lobby prior to starting the race... No timer, the admin can hit launch race and they also have a voting option.
