Papis is a good choice for WGI, hope is doesnt plan on using him on the speedways, any of us would do better.

That's kind of difficult to say, don't you think? I mean, even in road courses, he only has a single top 10 in 6 races. So it could be that he just can't drive a stock car that well, period.

But then you have to remember also, he was part time in the #13 when it was getting started so you had a single car, meh-funded team. Who knows what he could do in some of the best equipment in NASCAR. I mean, look at who drives the #13 now. Mears was nothing special with Ganassi. In the 2 years he drove the #5, he got a win and as many top 5's as he had earned the previous 4 years in the #41/#42 (and he has a single top 10 in all of his races in the #13). In SHR car with Hendrick power, he could finish top 20-25 which is saying something given his average finish in the 30's thus far.

Well you never know for sure. From what I am reading Papis is just for WGI. They are looking to name someone longterm in the next 24-48 hours. But yeah, they are most likely looking at someone who will ride around back pack with Danica.

Stewart is out 4-6 weeks so that covers everything up to the Chase basically. Put Kenny Wallace in the car I say. Give a veteran a chance to drive something good for the first time in ages. Or get a guy like Ryan Blaney. Would suck just throwing him in like that but Stewart seems like the type of guy to just say get in it and drive, don't worry about nursing it to a finish.

AJ only has another race or so then his contract is up. Would be a good fit to finish the 14 out until Tony is ready again.

This! AJ still has possibly 3 races left in the #47 so if those are in the next couple of weeks, so don't know if he is a viable option if they want someone to run all of the races. Put somebody in there who hasn't had a lot of opportunities these days. I guess his car still has a chance at the owner's championship so that could factor into it.

Gonna take advantage of being able to see all the practice speeds before my pick is due for the week. Leaning towards Juan Taco or Kurt Busch but I'll wait and see how it goes on Friday.

I would like to see Reed Sorenson get another shot at cup

Any chance Elliot Sadler or Hornish get a shot?

I just looked this is AJ's last race in his contract. Definitely want AJ in and not Morgan Shepard. Seriously, it is not a charity ride as the Owner's points are in play here.

Morgan Shepherd was a joke by the way... but no, Allmendinger is one of those guys that is going to get more chances (already is as he could be the guy that replaces Labonte full time). I like the sound of Sorenson too. He just disappeared for awhile but he's gotten to run Nationwide again at least and was jumping around with some small teams last year but never got to do much more than start'n'park. You may not think it's a charity ride, but at the same time, you must not know Tony Stewart. He seems like the type of guy to put someone different in the car. I mean, think about it, Max Papis who hasn't driven a Cup car in 3 years? There wasn't another ringer that has done something recently? Sure, the owner's championship is in play, but I doubt Stewart comes back 100% either. I don't see him contending in the owner's chase as long as Johnson is around any way.

Oh, and I have 2 words that shows you he could put anyone in the car: Danica Patrick.

Hornish I'd be mixed about. I think he is pretty devoted to Penske still and wants to keep waiting it out, but at the same time, a good 3 or 4 weeks in top equipment could get him a ride next year somewhere.

I looked as well. Article I found said 5 races for AJ in the #47. This is only #3. Jayski even said 2 races are TBA, so not sure where you are getting this is the last one.
