    How about the graphics?

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

    From what I could tell on the Xbox version, the graphics looked about the same as last year. I've heard that they are revamping the damage model, but the car models, tracks and textures seemed as good in the demo as in NT2004.

    EA was demoing the street racing on the PS2 version, which looked OK, but I can't really compare it since I didn't see any Cup cars in action on the PS2.

            Re: NASCAR 2005: Chase For The Cup Fact Sheet and Screenshots

            &gt;&gt;&gt;I thought the physics for NT2004 were fine for a console arcade racer. To be fair, the only track I drove in the demo was Talladega, so who knows if they are any different at the non-plate tracks. The fact sheet didn't mention a new physics engine, so I'm assuming it is unchanged at this point.&lt;&lt;&lt;

            Assassin:

            The physics model SUCKED for NT2004 on consoles compared to the late, great NASCAR Heat series. Unpredictable, too much oversteer in a lot of cases.

            Talladega is no indication of the quality of a physics model in any NASCAR game because you never need to lift at 'Dega. So you never can check if there's trailing throttle oversteer when you lift for the corners or how the car reacts when you brake for corners and when you accelerate off of corners.

            Like Terry said, the quote about the unchanged physics model is all I needed to know about NT 2005. I'll stick to IndyCar Series 2005, which will kick [censored]. I have the PS2 beta and a development kit from Codemasters, and the game is shaping up to be right there with World of Outlaws Sprint Car Racing as the best console oval racer I've played. Plus racing 12 other dudes on Xbox Live in open-wheel cars at 230 mph will be awesome.

            Take care,

                  Fair enough, I am by no means a Nascar Thunder apologist , but I have found the past few years games enjoyable from an arcade, just pick it up and play perspective. There is no question that the base physics engine of the Thunder series is flawed, cars snap loose way too easily, and braking on entry has never really felt right to me. I guess I have just gotten used to it and managed to enjoy the overall experience of the game in spite of it.

                  I can remember Heat requiring a very light touch on the controller in order to keep the car pointed forward, but I agree that Heat's physics are still superior to the EA series. Heat certainly seemed to have a more believable feel in the handling and response, albeit a bit touchy.

                  Please keep in mind that I have based my impressions on only a few minutes exposure to the E3 demo. But it is probably safe to say if you haven't liked this game in the past, the 2005 version is not likely to convert you. I can deal with the physics engine, as I am far more excited about online play and the addtion of Trucks, BGN and modifieds.

                  Cheers!
