Seem to be fairly divided opinions on this. I feel like the kid was deliberately trying to get in Stewart's way in an effort to make him stop on track, but there also seem to be plenty of people who think it was 100% intentional on Stewart's part.

I don't think it was intentional, but I do think Tony was trying to intimidate him and his negligence cost the victim his life. Of course, the victim is not free of fault, either, having run down towards Tony.

            OSFC- Watkins Glen 355

Just got an update from TeamSteam that Kevin Ward Jr was DOA when arriving hospital. Thoughts and prayers with his family.

So is Bob gonna get to repick or will he have to have whoever replaces Stewart?

No word from SHM if Stewart will be driving at this point. They released a presser, but didn't mention if he was driving. I read a report that he was back at Watkins Glen and being cooperative with authorities.

Hate to quote you twice, but according to Marty Smith via ESPN, Stewart will be racing today and is expected to address media prior to race.

From looking at video it looks like the guy ran right in front of the car. I see others saying Stewart gunned it or something, but all the cars were driving around track at caution speed and he didn't appear to be going any faster. You have to really be lacking brains to walk right in traffic on a speedway, no matter how pissed you may be at someone. Not saying Stewart isn't at fault at all, but Ward certainly didn't give him much opportunity to avoid it.

I hate it for the dude and all but don't be a dumbA!. A case of keeping it real went wrong! Car in front of Smoke almost ran over the dude. I have no Idea what really happen as I'm not Tony Stewart but I don't see how you can say its his fault. Cars were still flying around the track and dude runs out in front of a car that slides all over the dirt track. I hate it for everyone involved.

As long as there wasn't some kind of bad blood between the 2 prior to the race. I think he won't be facing jail time. However, it wouldn't be a shock if its not called Stewart Haas and Ward racing after civil suits are filed. Very sad situation.

Regan Smith will be in the car.

Bob can stick RS or go with another driver.
Don't you EVER read my blog? It's gotten a lot better.

It is a unfortunate incident but I think the driver killed deserves a majority of blame for what happened. First of all from watching the video it looks like the crash was just a racing incident if not the 17 year olds fault. He squeezed Tony down in the turn and Tony bobbled causing the wreck. I believe this kid viewed this whole night as a chance to make a name for himself he was racing against a cup driver so he might have saw this as his chance. Then to get wrecked by that cup driver get out and confront him show people you're not intimidated. We've all seen the pros walk to the edge of the track and point at a driver that just took them out. He was just emulating what he has seen from the very same driver that he felt crashed him has done. Is it 100% his fault? No not at all Tony won't back down from anyone especially "a snot nosed kid" he was going to be the intimidator he was the pro. Again it's very unfortunate that it happened but full responsibility cannot lie on one driver. I do believe this is the last time Tony will ever race sprints again it could also cost him his career depending on how this is played out with the police investigation and out in the court of public opinion. This will probably cost Tony a good bit of money I expect the kids parents to file a suit against Tony. Very sad

One hell of a battle between Ambrose and Allmendinger on the last 2 restarts.
