I realize you have the XBox version of the game.

Have you heard from anyone with the PS2 Version if the slowdown is in that game as well ?

Don't know if you know anyone who has access to the PS2 version but just figured I'd see.

Something to add to the release of this game that I dont think Terry has touched on is that Wal-mart is selling the game with an exclusive bonus track, similiar to the Target Challenge in Tiger Woods Golf last year if you bought the game from Target.

Just throwing that out for possible buyers who dont have to have it the day it comes out.

Yes, reached the Cup series last night...took forever. The Busch series was 35 races, that's a lot of sitting in front of the TV. Won the Daytona 500 on a last-lap pass on Jr. Ended up blowing it about halfway through the race, had to get some help from Kenseth to catch back up to Jr. By the weekend I should finish the Nextel Cup and see how that all works. Racing was definitely faster, though.

For review purposes, I'm running the "Fight to the Top" on 8%. I need to finish something like 150 races+ to get to the end of Nextel, so longer formats unfortunately aren't in the picture. When I finish the review, I know I'll be going back to play through the game at "my" pace. The only lengths you can choose are 8%, 12%, 25%, 50%, or 100%. I'll more than likely choose 25% with yellows on to really test myself on Legend. In the 8% races, I've had yellows off.

Not sure, I'm one of the technologically deficient that doesn't have a 16x9 TV. Usually those settings come from the video setting on the XBox, and I have mine set to "normal". I'll take a peep at the back of the box when I'm at home and see if it shows, but I have no idea off the top of my head, sorry.

I don't think so, Johnny Sauter is still listed. I think of it kind of like "other" sports games...there's a cutoff date that the driver database is done. As for whether they'll offer downloads, I can't answer that because I have no idea. I just have the game like any normal guy, I haven't been talking to EA reps or anything. Matter of fact, I have yet to find ONE person to play online (unlike Madden, where there were people in the lobbies pre-release all the time).

Freezes the field, yes. I didn't see any options for how the yellows would be enforced. Oddly enough, I was out front at Daytona during a test race on Legend with longer race length. I got clipped in my right rear quarterpanel and spun the car about 110 degrees to the right. The yellow flew, but I was still technically out front, so the field froze. We restarted and I was still first:y4:. There's some weird stuff going on with yellows, but since almost all of my time has been spent cranking through Fight to the Top, I've only had minimal involvement with them so far. I would be surprised if there can't be a green, white, checkered finish. When I finish Fight to the Top I'll cause a yellow with a lap or two to go and see what happens.

I'll have to look when I get home to answer for sure, but I don't remember seeing Schrader. Sadler has a few special schemes, but I don't think Gaughn does. He may have a test car and that's it...a lot of guys have a plain "test car" with just a number on the door. Some of them are actually kinda cool.

It seems that the AI had an arbitrary pit window that it would follow no matter the situation on the track.

Also, it sounds like the physics model has been improved somewhat, is there any difference in handling under braking? One of the more frustrating aspects of of the older games was getting a good feel for braking using the controller. Most of the time I end up having to pump the brakes to avoid locking them up, and trying to not slide too much on entry. Just curious as to if you've seen any noticeable improvement. Thanks.
It appears that it may have the same issues. I pitted at Daytona and took right sides only...I came out way ahead of the field. I figured other cars might take rights only and go with me, but no luck. It appears (through a handful of races with cautions on) that the AI still has a pit window that it strictly follows.

As for physics, yes there's some improvement in braking. I don't lock them up every corner with the gamepad, or go into a full slide with little warning of what's going on. I'd say it's a pretty good improvement over last year's driving model itself, with possibly too much leniency in it. You can save the car from something that you'd have no hope of surviving in real life. Any shortcomings in the driving model usually exist to create a more "raceable" environment, though. At Homestead last night, I ran 11 laps side by side with Kyle Busch. If the driving model was 100% real, I'd have wrecked 3 or 4 times there. I was able to pinch him low, run door to door, and eventually make a pass for the lead. Braking was crisp, I never locked them up and lost the line. Once I move it to Legend and take the assists off (they're forced on in lower difficulties unless you move to custom), I'll have a much better feel. So far I don't see anything wrong with it, and I ran 3 test races on Legend and didn't have a problem there either.

I mentioned previously that cockpit view was gone, could have been another thread though. I lose track sometimes heh. Cockpit is gone for sure. Close/Far Chase cam, bumper camp, roof cam. Roof cam is ok, but you don't have a look left/right or any way to see your flanks...annoying. I haven't seen drivers get disciplined at all, thank God. That's more than I want to deal with in a video game. I know that when you have yellows on, you'll get some cautions. At Vegas in 24-ish laps, I think I had 2 cautions that were AI-induced. 1 at Daytona in a 16 lap race.

You're absolutely right that I didn't touch on it...I had no clue lol. I've never been a big Wal-Mart shopper. I'd be curious to see what the bonus tracks is, though...I'd guess it's some fantasy road course for the Need for Speed crowd, but you never know. Some of their fictional ovals or tri-ovals are pretty fun.

Is Kasey Kahne in this game? I was dissapointed when he wasn't in 2004, so if he isn't in it Im not buying it. Also if he is in does he have his Mountain Dew Paint Scheme.

                  Thanks

Yes he's in the game. Would have been tough to have him in 2004 since it came out last season, when he only raced a handful of Busch races. He only has the 1 paint scheme, however.

Do mystery yellows still happen when cars are leaving pit road? This happened quite a bit at Bristol and Martinsville in 04 when the CPU would leave pit road. It would wreck without the "replay" showing any reason for a caution.
