Just qualified very nicely at Pocono. Hope it is an update improvement and not just a fluke! haha

If they fixed qualifying (with stability control on) I'm going to be massively impressed and quite happy.

I had a beauty pass on my last lap in my last race that was a beauty moment. Also had a 3 wide early in the race between two rivals and they were NOT playing nice. Heck of a game - think the update has refined it a fair bit. Qualifying tweaks are much appreciated. So nice to see some track in front of me rather than 30 cars.

This thread is making me feel like picking this up. NHE came close to scratching my NASCAR itch, but its shortcomings were really glaring. If NH2 is as good as people here are making it out to be, then I'll be thrilled.

Raced an 80-lap career race at Gateway yesterday evening post-patch and it seemed like they greatly improved the overall feel of the game. I qualified P15, which was probably several spots (I would say 7-9) higher than I should have, but I need to confirm I still had the game on legend, or if I backed it down to hard difficulty. Once the race started I was able to pick up a few positions and get around P10-P12 most of the first stage.

Once the stage ended I came in for a pit-stop and the majority of the field pitted as well, I took four tires, so of course, I came out dead last. The second stage I was able to battle up the field and finished stage two around P15. The top 10-12 cars came in to pit following stage two so I began P5. Again, I came out strong and actually led a lap (first of my career) before the rest of the field was able to make their way back up front and overtake me. I believe after some good battles, I finished the race P11 (my hot seat offer only required a P22, so I will gladly take that finish).

It seemed like cars were on differing pit strategies, which was a welcome change of pace for how my first few races have gone. Some cars didn’t take enough fuel at the conclusion of stage one, so they had to come in and top off near the end of the race. I think I only had one caution, but it was a clean race, I did change the setting to strict yellows, so we’ll see how they are next race.

It also seems like they modified a few trucks in the game. 42 is now Tommy Joe Martins, and the 44 is Matt Mills. I didn’t pay much more attention, though I believe the 8 & 78 Xfinity cars are now Chevy (originally were Toyota).

Good patch for the game – I look forward to the next set of DLC dropping I believe next week (October 24th).

Edit: A few new alcohol schemes have been added as well (Harvick, Keselowski, Sadler, etc.)
                    Hey Prof,

I am curious, and don't take this as me doubting the validity of your comments and trials, but when I went to Reddit and looked at comments, people there were much more negative about the affect the patch has on the level of challenge against AI still... from what the theme has been, if you can do a good setup to your car, you can still run circles around these guys for the most part.
Have you found this also to be true? It is probably now the one thing holding me back on purchasing...seems strict yellow and pit strategy have improved, but still curious about this last aspect.

Yeah, if you don't use custom setups and take a 3 or 4 star ride there's a real challenge there if you want it. I just can't see how you can catch some of the better drivers and their quality cars with the base set-up - it's pretty frustrating taking a perfect line and still getting nowhere... but that's the way it goes and should go IMO if that's how you want to play the game. I dunno, maybe I'm missing something (talent? ha!), but it seems to me the game has given me the settings, since the patch, where I can win every race or I can go in knowing I'm going to qualify at the back and have to work like a dog to get into the top 20. I feel like they did a good job with that.

Is there only one option to change the controller configuration?

Apparently another patch (1.03) came out tonight, for PS4 at least. Haven't found anything about what it was, though I had seen some stuff on twitter that there were issues with private lobbies or something after the earlier patch.
