Traction control has zero effect on ovals. It only kicks in when leaving the pits and accelerating on restarts. I don't care for it, but it's there.

Fuel mixture joystick? You mean the fuel consumption dial on the steering wheel? That's been a standard in open-wheel formula style racing for years. Nothing new to running rich or running lean. That's not a gimmick; that's been part of open-wheel racing strategy for years. OWRS cars don't have fuel mixture dials on the wheel anymore?

    Take care,

No just the P2P. I don't know why they got rid of that maybe because they went to the pit windows. Now that they got rid of those maybe they will bring that back.

Hey PK I asked Neil Micklewright PT's engineer about the fuel mixture adjustment and the pit window rules here is what he had to say.

I quite like the fact that we have returned to a non pit window scenario. It is how things used to be and it worked well for many years. The only reason that pit windows became necessary was because of us having too many fuel conserving races. This was only possible because all the cars had fuel mixture controls on board and the drivers could minimize fuel use during the race while looking for a yellow. As it is now, we are only able to save a little fuel by the driver adjusting his style and instead of looking for a yellow, we have to pray for one. It certainly gives all of the teams alot more to worry about, but thats part of the game and allows much more speculation about who might win or come from the back.

Yes, it's pretty big, but so are many other things.

I know what P2P is. You press the button, you get 50 extra HP each time you push the button. I'm sorry, that makes me feel like I'm watching/playing an arcade racing game with a turbo boost.

The fact that it isn't natural. I don't want to hear a turbo, I want to hear the engine.

          I wasn't comparing it to an IRL engine. I was comparing it to a 1.4, 1.6, or 1.8 L 4 banger.

Like PK said, those have been a standard in open wheel cars for a LONG time.

But that was because nearly every team was playing the fuel-mileage game in the last years of CART.

In the IRL right now, fuel-mileage races are rare. Teams tend to go balls to the wall or there are enough cautions to avoid fuel races. Take your pick of the two reasons.
