yeah that's why I don't want to get The Show for the PS3. I've put 7 years into my career on the PS2, I can't just throw it out and I'm afraid if I see how good it looks on the PS3 I'd be tempted. LOL

You need a USB adapter for a PS2 memory card.

You will need an HDMI cable since it doesn't come with any HD cables but those are cheap off of ebay (not in a retail outlet). Supposedly the PS2 component cables are compatible with it.

Everyone here recommends www.ehdmi.com. I just got my hdmi cable from walmart though.

yeah I'll have to go with the component cables. I have DVI inputs on my TVs but no HDMIs. I'll just use the PS2 ones I have I suppose.

my tv only has DVI also. You should get a dvi-hdmi adaptor / cable. That's the only way to have your dvd's upscaled and to be able to play blu-ray movies in higher resolution.

that is a thought, I might do that. I do have a DVI to HDMI cable already because my DVD player is a HDMI one.

I apologize as I'm sure this has been asked before, but is there a noticeable difference, or good reason to upgrade to HDMI from component cables?

"Noticeable difference" is case-by-case, but a good reason is that you won't face many DVD upscaling problems with HDMI.

It's very, very slight... the added advantage is one cable, as opposed to 5 or 3 (VGA) and the ability to upscale DVD's.

I don't know what "upscaling" really does/means. I have my resolution set at 720p I believe and DVDs still take up fullscreen. Does it improve the image quality of a DVD?

IIRC the PS3 is the same as the Xbox360, meaning it won't upscale DVD's past 480p using component cables. So your DVD's are being shown via the system's setting at 720p, but it's a conversion from 480p. It's not true 720p. To get that, you would need an HDMI cable.

You would see an increase is sharpness among the picture once it's upscaled b/c that is being done via your PS3's upscaler. Hope that makes sense...

the resolution that DVD's play at is 480P. With an upscaler it will play them at 720P or higher. It does improve the image quality, but by how much a noticable difference I'm not too sure about. The only way to play BluRay at it's intended purpose you need HDMI. If you use component it will downscale it to DVD quality.
