Re: Playstation Network and Discussion Part Deux

So I am now officially a "dual citizen" after picking up a PS3 yesterday.

    Early impressions on the console.

-The design is sleek and it runs very quiet.
    -Love the Blu Ray player
-Some cool exclusive games (Uncharted, Infamous, etc.)

    On the negative side...

-I might be spoiled with the greatness that is Xbox live, but PS3's chat/friend/network can't hold a candle to the 360.
-Having to install games/demos etc. is a pain in the butt. I'm trying to play Drake's Fortune and have had to sit here for 10 minutes watching my PS3 install crap.
-I'm a huge fan of the 360's controller...I like how it is thicker and I love the controller layout much more so than the smaller PS3 controller.

Overall though, excited to have it and also very cool that my siblings and my dad/stepmom have PS3s and we can all use video chat to talk to each other simultaneously even though we are in different states. Nice to have.

Congrats AA, I'm with you on the negatives that you posted but overall I love the PS3. There are some great exclusives to check out and some great games on PSN as well.

Did you pick up any other PS3 games besides Uncharted?

I've got a buddy who has about 40 games. I told him I was picking one up and he gave me a nice starting point to borrow as long as I want (he beats games in days).

          I've got...

          Resistance
          Resistance 2
          Infamous
          Metal Gear Solid 4
          Dante's Inferno
          Dead Space

and I bought a used copy of Uncharted 2 today to play with my brothers, both PS3 guys.

So that's a nice few months of gaming.

On top of that, I have my 360 rotation of NCAA, NBA 2k10, College Hoops 2k8, and I'm currently addicted to Fallout 3

In all honesty, I'm supremely addicted to Fallout 3 right now, but I'm messing around with some of the PS3 titles tonight.

My biggest issue now is on my sports games...

Which version do I get? I have OSers/Friends on both consoles. I'll probably still buy most of my sports titles on 360.

Not sure if you're into baseball or not AA, but I suggest trying out MLB 10 once it's out. Best sports game hands down.

I like to alternate I picked up, NCAA Football for the 360 then Madden for PS3, FIFA for 360 and now NHL for PS3.

Dude, I'm so overloaded with games right now its crazy. And they are all awesome. I plan on playing Heavy Rain too, but between Fallout3, Uncharted 2, Metal Gear, Dead Space, etc. PLUS all of my sports game....I'm gonna have to quit grad school, work, and having a social life to get them all in. lol

This is how I do it (although keep in mine my PS3 is and always will be my number one this gen, lol):

I buy all games for PS3 , except for multiplat sports titles, and online heavy games (ie, Modern Warfare 2). Reason being, I like the controller for sports games, and it's basically just fact that sports titles made for both tend to look and run better on the 360... and, like you said, Xbox Live completely destroys PSN, despite the fact that PSN has gotten MUCH better.

I use my PS3 for everything else because I feel it's more reliable, I like earning trophies, and I prefer the controller for most single player style games... oh, and my gf has a PS3 as well and likes to play all the single player games too, lol. In fact, she's about to earn her second Platinum, and I still have yet to get my first

Try it, won't hurt to at least rent it and see what all the fuss is all about. You won't regret it. MLB The Show is the only sports game that I can play all year round.

I'll rent it. If I actually play it, then it will definitely live up to its hype because as I said, I'm not a baseball fan at all. It looks great though.

Has anyone else had issues with the video chat? My folks, my sister, and my brother all got on last night and we had a 4 way video conference. My sister's video feed kept freezing and she would get booted out of the video chat. Didn't know if this was a normal occurence, etc.
