I have it for the 360, it's fun, a lot like the original, but very short. It's an old arcade game, so I expected that, but it got bashed in some reviews for it.

          It's buggy and just...I didn't like it.

"This update improves the playback quality of some PLAYSTATION 3 and PlayStation format software."

I don't know what the hell that means... I don't think it's really something noticeable.

I kinda thought that, because the update was quick.

The Last Guy Is Here To Rescue You

Recently at E3, SCEA announced some really cool PlayStation Network titles, including Rag Doll Kung Fu: Fists of Plastic, Fat Princess, Flower and Crash Commando. Well, the goods keep on coming because I’m excited to tell you today about ANOTHER new downloadable title we are bringing to PSN very soon: The Last Guy.

Before I say too much else about it, fire up this first-look gameplay trailer to learn a little bit about the premise of the game:

                  <object classid="clsid<param name="movie" value="http://www.viddler.com//simple_on_site/cd8b1852" /><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><embed src="http://www.viddler.com//simple_on_site/cd8b1852" width="437" height="265" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowScriptAccess="always" allowFullScreen="true" name="viddler" ></embed></object>

Pretty crazy, right? The trailer talks a bit about the story, but here’s some more detail. Set some time in the 21st century, a mysterious purple ray hits Earth, turning anyone touched by the light into a monster or zombie. With zombies roaming the streets, unaffected people lucky enough to have been inside a building when the ray hit are anxiously holding their collective breath, waiting for someone to rescue them. As The Last Guy, you are the survivors’ last hope to survive this global crisis. Actually, the hero of the game is himself a zombie from the Himalayan mountains, on a quest to save the remaining humans from the zombies that have infested it.
                  Go forth and save!!

As for the gameplay, here’s a basic rundown. The Last Guy is a fast-paced and addictive classic arcade style game with simple controls. The game uses real-life aerial maps of various cities around the world, including Tokyo, London and Los Angeles. As the player, you are the last remaining hope in each of these cities to rescue mankind from the zombies roaming the streets. As you navigate the city, you gather survivors hidden throughout buildings and other nooks and crannies in the city. Once rescued, the nervous survivors will form a line behind you. The objective is to lead them back to the Escape Zone so the United Rescue Force can pick them up and whisk them off to safety.

To complete a stage, you have to get enough survivors back to the escape zone before time runs out. Which isn’t as easy as it looks, because if zombies get too close, the people in line scream and scatter back into the buildings, meaning you have to rescue them again. So you’ll want to keep everyone as far away from the zombies as possible.

Along the way, you will encounter 10 types of zombies , not including tougher “boss” enemies. As the Last Guy, you possess special powers like thermography or heat vision to help you see where survivors are hiding. You’ll also find helpful power-ups, like freezing time, warping back to the escape zone and temporary invisibility, scattered throughout the city to help avoid the pesky zombies.

Well, that’s it for now. There will be much more about The Last Guy in the weeks to come. Thanks!
                  Go Noles!!! >>----->

Ratchet & Clank Quest for Booty August 21

Insomniac developers may be pulling all-nighters to finish up work on the company's big holiday release of Resistance 2, but that isn't stopping the studio from offering gamers their annual dose of Ratchet & Clank.

Ratchet won't always have Clank handy.

The pair's debut downloadable outing, Ratchet & Clank Future: Quest for Booty on the PlayStation 3, received an exact release date today on GameSpot's latest episode of On the Spot. The smaller-than-usual-size game will arrive on the PlayStation Store August 21, complete with a smaller-than-usual-size price tag: $14.99.

Picking up after the events of Ratchet & Clank Future, Quest for Booty will put a greater emphasis on puzzle-solving and platforming elements. The game will also incorporate a new light-and-dark gameplay mechanic.

Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty Q&A

GS: How did you handle gameplay without Clank?

BA: Without Clank, Ratchet loses his ability to jump farther and glide. This gave us the opportunity to focus the design on tighter and more challenging platforming. For example, there are areas of the game where Ratchet has to walk along a narrow walkway. If Ratchet had Clank, the player could high-jump and glide past a large chunk of the challenge. Without Clank, the player is forced to skillfully tiptoe along the narrow path.

We also upgraded the wrench to give Ratchet more abilities to compensate for the lack of Clank. The wrench now can extend and latch on to distant objects with its new "Wrench Tether" ability. This allows Ratchet to move platforms, load catapults, and compress special spring pads. Another wrench capability is that Ratchet can pick up and throw small objects. For example, he can pick up glowing creatures called "Helio-grubs" that can be carried to light up dark caves. Picking up and throwing objects adds an additional puzzle element to our classic platforming challenges.
GS: Is this just using the same engine as Tools of Destruction, or has it been enhanced?

BA: This engine is very close to the one that we used for Tools of Destruction. While we upgraded parts of the gameplay engine and improved how the scenes worked, for the most part we've focused on getting more out of our existing engine. Now that we have a better understanding of what we can do, we're exploiting some cool features and integrating them into gameplay. For example, dynamic lights and dynamic shadows are used more frequently, and we're letting players manipulate them with the new wrench abilities.
GS: How much content was repurposed from TOD in terms of characters and the like? Obviously Ratchet and some key cast members, but how about locations and such?

BA: Pirates from TOD like Rusty Pete, Captain Slag, and the crew are back. We really enjoyed developing those characters for RCF: TOD and felt they had a lot of potential for their own story. We're introducing a new pirate captain named "Angstrom Darkwater." He has his own crew with a special twist that makes him feel much different from the other pirates. All the locations are new and are featured on a single planet called Merdegraw--a haven for space pirates.
GS: Does the game support trophies?

BA: Nope, we were wrapping up the game around the time the final spec hit and we weren't able to integrate them. All future Insomniac releases will have trophies though, including Resistance 2!
GS: How much gameplay is there to go through? How did you settle on how much content to include?

BA: Our primary goal was to make the game feel like an epic summer blockbuster movie. However, it's longer than most films in that the average player takes around three to four hours to finish it.
