I have been so out of the loop with gaming tghat last few weeks, it seems I'm in a different world. RE5, SHOW, KZ2 are must buys for me out of the gate.

The Show comes out today, and Killzone 2 is already out(UK only), not sure when it comes out in the US, but you could create a dummy UK account.

Re: Playstation Network and Discussion Part Deux

I've had my PS3 just shy of two years and haven't had a single problem before I moved a few weeks ago. I switched ISP's & went from a wireless to wired connection. Everything seems fine with online 'til after I download a demo. Once I download a demo now, I can't install it due to error code 80029564. I've tried virtually everything, googled it, called Sony & tried all of their suggestions up to and including restoring my PS3 system without any success. Has anyone had this issue? Does anyone have any suggestions what to try next other than sending my unit to Sony?

I hope everyone enjoys The Show demo today, as I certainly won't be. Thanks in advance.

Re: Playstation Network and Discussion Part Deux

                Hi PlayStation Home Community!

Remember last week when I asked you for interview questions for the producer of the 3 on 3 NHL video game? Well, that video is now live in Central Plaza, so be sure to go check it out.

You guys had so many good questions, that the producer decided to be cool and answer a lot of the ones that didn't make it into the video. Here they are!

What are these power ups that a player can use against his opponent? I’m glad you asked about these, because it is truly fun to talk about them One the most exciting features in 3 on 3 NHL Arcade are the Powerups. When you hit an opponent you get a Powerup. There are 8 Powerups in the game; Super Speed, Banana Peel, Super Shot, Huge Player, Huge Goalie, Small Goalie, Double Goal, and Freeze. These are a great addition to the game, they make you decide between hitting and playing the puck, this decision is very important as it will determine what the outcome of the game will be.

When does it come out? 3 on 3 NHL Arcade comes out on February 5th on PSN.

How much is it going to cost? 3 on 3 NHL Arcade will cost $9.99.

Does it support trophies? Yes, 3 on 3 NHL Arcade supports Trophies.

Does it include all NHL teams? No it does not. 3 on 3 NHL Arcade has 40 NHL Superstars to choose from. Each team is represented, so don’t worry, we have every fan covered.

Will there be local and online play? 3 on 3 NHL Arcade has both local and online play. Local play can support up to 3 v 3. Online play has both ranked and unranked modes. We have quick ranked matches that support 3 v 3 online play, we have Play a friend, quick, custom, and create matches as well. Online play is very deep in 3 on 3 Arcade and will give the user hours of enjoyment.

What kinds of tricks can you pull off? We have a lot of trick moves. We give the user the ability to do spin moves, spinning toe drags to a shot, bat the puck out of the air, pick up the puck and score from behind the net, and all the loose puck dekes that you can handle.

                Will there be co-op? Yes, 3 on 3 NHL Arcade supports 3 v 3 Co-op Play.

Can we check the goalie? Yes. The goalie is fair game at any time. Enjoy!

Are the hits scripted, or based on physics? 3 on 3 NHL Arcade hitting system is physics based. We have the also amped up the hits, so there are not bumps or glances, only over the top bone rattling hits.

Are there trophies in the game to place in your home space for your victory or items?
Is there a system for keeping track of online scores to see who's the top contender in the game? There are leaderboards that keep track of all the important stats so that you can compare against the entire world and determine who the best is.

What function will each button have on the controller for this game?
Is it easy to learn for all ages? 3 on 3 NHL Arcade is very easy to learn. This is because we have two control setups. We have button controls, which simply allow any user to pick up and play the game. Button controls give the user the full power game but in an easy to use system. Secondly, we have the Skill Stick control system; this is from NHL 09 and for those gamers that are familiar with it, is simply the most intuitive and powerful control system on the market.

                              Some reviews for Flower:

                              IGN - 9

thatgamecompany has depicted something that I never once imagined: what would a flower's dream look like if we could see it? Flower, a PS3 downloadable that comes as a spiritual successor to flOw, is one of the most beautiful games that I've ever played. Not just because the visuals are entirely breathtaking, but also because the experience of playing it offers more enjoyment, emotion and enlightenment than any game I've tried in years.
                              1UP - A

The Sixaxis control is wonderfully fuss-free. At no time did I feel like I had to fight the controls. And honestly, while in the midst of a level, I hardly thought about the lump of plastic in my hands -- my attention was solely on my petal train, whipping about in the game's wind currents. And the currents are something you have to pay attention to. In some levels, strong winds buffet you along, making your trail of petals surge forward along a wind tunnel. It's these moments that Flower takes on an almost racing game feel, with you banking right and left as you zip along a track. It's certainly exciting, but, if you're like me, you want to collect every last petal -- including the three special green flower clusters hidden in each stage. And being flung along at high speed then becomes frustrating...that is, until you realize you can fight your way back against the wind currents. Once you've gotten familiar with the winds' course, you can navigate your petals up and around them. That way, you can make your way back to a section the game previously blew you through in order to pick up any stray flower petals you may have missed.
                              Eurogamer - 8

It is, simply, a game where you want to see what happens next, because whatever does happen next will be delicate, beautiful and pleasurable, and never so hurried as to overburden the spectacle and sense of immersion. Even viewed warily through the haughtily lyrical prism of thatgamecompany's artistic mission statement, these are the characteristics of a well-designed videogame, and the torch-wielding art police would do well to encourage them rather than arguing about the designers' motivation. Not least because in this age of overblown expectation, the developer's candour and Flower's composition are honest enough to make it clear whether or not the game will appeal to you in seconds. It certainly did to me.
                              Joystiq

Those that believe Flower to be nothing more than casual junk will be doing a great disservice to themselves. There is a "point" to the experience, and it ultimately is a "game." Casual and hardcore gamers will find different things to appreciate about Flower -- and no matter what your gaming taste, Flower will tug at your soul. That is, provided you have one.

                                Giantbomb Review: Flower -5/5

You can finish Flower in a small handful of hours, but that initial experience is so densely packed with visual splendor and engaging discovery that every minute of it feels meaningful. It's not a bad way to relieve stress, either, just slumping back on the couch after a long day at the office and zooming around fields full of lush flora without a bunch of Locust or Nazis trying to score head shots on you. And the game's trophies are thoughtfully designed, too, encouraging you to go back and play the levels again more skillfully if you're the type of person who's interesting in boosting your online rep.

Download services like the PlayStation Store are the best thing to happen to consoles in a long while. They make offbeat experimental games like this one possible, when such games would likely never reach shelves in boxed form due to the raw business realities of retail publishing. But because we can circumvent the obstacles of physical distribution, we can have games like Flower, a tiny, beautiful, elegantly designed piece of software that I feel richer for having played.
