i wish the PSN would have more good arcade games like xbox live's shadow complex and the new TMN game.

i think this is a key to success also i know it can be done

Atlanta, PSNdoes have a lot of good downloadable games when you think about it. Some off the top of my head:

Zen pinball, Pain, High velocity bowling, Pixeljunk Monsters, pixeljunk eden,Warhawk, Super Stardust HD, Crash Commando. There are others but I can think of them.

Agreed. Personally, I think there's been a ton of great and original games on PSN.

Picked up Ragdoll Kung-Fu, when it was being offered for free, I thought that game was a blast. I also won a code to download High Velocity Bowling, had alot of fun with it even though I hate bowling.

All in all even though I may not have spent any money on any DLC games, there are definitely some good ones out there.

So, DXZeke recommended Wipeout on the previous page. I need a little more detailed opinion, though, because I'm still on the fence about it. I've sort of been wanting a racer to tide me over until GT5, but when I tried the Wipeout demo, it felt difficult - sort of frustrating to get a handle on. Keep in mind, I've never played a Wipeout game before. Is this worth picking up at this price point, or is it just going to be an exercise in frustration for me?

It's difficult, but fun. Just talking about it makes me want to play it again. The trophies are probably some of the hardest of any game, though.

Once you get the hang of the game it is awesome. Especially when you can listen to your own music while playing. Trophies are very satisfying to get, you really feel like you earn them (not cheap, like a lot of other games.) I have spent many hours playing online and it never gets old. When Fury drops I will be playing this title a lot again. My favorite racer, because of it's simplicity and fun factor.

P.S. The Phantom Circuit is where it's at. It is super fast and buttery smooth. I can see why pfunk didn't like the demo because the races are so slow. Phantom really tests your reflexes and hand eye coordination. I don't even bother with the slower speeds now.

I played fuel. Was rather underwhelmed by it. I read the previews and was all hyped up, but it didn't do it for me.

One thing I hated was the soundtrack, and the lack of custom music.

Right, I only downloaded the demo as well. But I did the free-roam thing and pressed Select, and though the demo restricts you to where you can go, you can roam around the entire map with the cursor, and this game is like ten times the size of any GTA game. Though they're not scaled the same way obviously, it's just a big overall game.

I won't say I'm underwhelmed by the game as it does what it needs to right, but I don't find any compelling reason to buy it.

                              IGN: Shatter Review - 9.0

Shatter is a delight from beginning to end. The new ideas it brings to the table for this aging genre will make it hard to go back to Arkanoid. A multiplayer mode or something more substantial to do after completing the story would have been nice, but those minor disappointments don't keep this from being a must-play game. Shatter stands right up there with Breakout and Arkanoid as one of (if not the) best brick-breaking games ever made.

Gamespot First Look: Castle Crashers for PS3, Video

Castle Crashers has been one of the bright lights on Xbox Live Arcade since it was released last August. The stylized side-scrolling brawler offered a winning mix of solid action, quirky charm, and four-player co-op play. Unfortunately, PlayStation 3 owners haven't been able to get in on the fun--until now. The Behemoth is taking the wraps off of Castle Crashers for the PlayStation 3 at Comic-Con today, and showing off the first playable version of the upcoming downloadable title. We paid the California-based developer a visit for a first look.

For those of you who aren't already familiar with the game, Castle Crashers follows four knights as they head out to rescue their respective special ladies who've been princess-napped (a common problem in games). The road to rescue sends the knights up against hordes of enemies but, with teamwork, a little help from their animal friends, a variety of different weapons, magic, and some leveling up, a happy ending is guaranteed. The game takes a light action-RPG approach to the head busting by letting you earn experience and level different stats on your knight, such as strength, defense, agility, and magic. The end result on the Xbox 360 was a fun game that got even better when you played co-operatively with friends online. As a bonus, the Behemoth also included an arena to fight with friends and a food-gorging minigame.

All of the above is on its way to the PlayStation 3, with the appropriate tweaks, such as trophy support, for Sony's platform. The Behemoth isn't offering much in terms of information on exclusive content for the PlayStation 3 game beyond saying that it's still to be determined. The air of mystery also extends to the game's release date, which the team is keeping quiet about for the moment. The best we could get out of them was that they're working to get the game out as soon as they can and that development is going well.

As far as how the PS3 game looks and plays, the demo that we checked out was already running well and certainly looked to be on par with the Xbox 360 game. The action is smooth and responsive, and the colorful visuals look as crisp as ever. From the look of things Castle Crashers should be a good addition to the PlayStation Network library. A straight port of the Xbox 360 game will be a lot of fun, but we're hopeful that the PS3 version might also benefit from some additional content. Look for more on Castle Crashers for the PlayStation 3 in the months to come.
