You might want to refrain from playing Fez for a while

Although there were a number of crashes and infinite death loops in the original Fez, most of them could be fixed by restarting the game, which would put you back in the same area upon startup. Of course, these glitches need to be fixed at some point, and Polytron has a 2-month-in-the-making patch available right now: just make sure you don't actually apply it.

Yes folks, that's right: make sure you don't apply today's patch. Polytron has updated their blog to state that there's a major widespread glitch that accompanies this new title update, where "save files can be seen as corrupted by the game after installing the patch." In essence, you could lose all of your progress.

The blog posts says that you can clear your 360's system cache as a precautionary measure, but they are very clear in that there is no real known fix. Well guys, here's hoping it doesn't take two more months for another patch to fix this patch.

If you don't already own Sonic CD, you should get it this week while it's only 200 points ($2.50):

Probably the wildest and most experimental game of all the 2D Sonics. Plus the soundtrack is excellent.

It's a great game, a cult classic, and arguably the best in the sonic franchise but was released on the sega cd.

This port is notable in that Sega actually allowed a fan to do it. It's not a lazy Backbone emulated genesis port that runs like crap like all of Sega's other releases. The guy created his own engine, the game runs at 60 fps, true widescreen, and has both US and Japanese soundtracks.

If only every retro release was given this level of care.

If you have a Kinect plugged in you can get a free game at the dashboard. The game is Haunted. I've never played it but I downloaded it today. The main thing is that your Kinect has to be plugged in.

For fans of Contra and Metal Slug:

Shoot Many Robots is $5 this week.

It's a great cooperative multiplayer game, especially in 4-player mode. Don't get it unless you have at least one other person to play with, though. The single player experience is a drag.

Spelunky is out today. For those that don't know its a roguelike platformer. The levels are randomly generated and once you die you have to start back over from 1-1.

I have a feeling this game is going to come close to the anger that Super Meat Boy caused me.

I don't understand why they put that ghost in Spelunky. I just want to explore the levels and earn as much loot as possible, but no, that darn ghost always comes out if you stay in one level for too long.

There really should be an option to turn off the ghost.

If there was no ghost you could just easily rack up money and bombs and in a couple of levels you could easily have 40+ bombs which would make getting through an entire world pretty easy.

Glad I'm done with the mines now though after unlocking the shortcut. If I got hit by one more arrow which sent me into a bed of spikes I was going to lose it.

I found out that you can use the camera to slow the ghost down a bit. The camera also kills "undead" enemies.

There are so many easter eggs in this game. It's a nice throwback to old-school game design. Definitely worth the $15.

Though it freezes my system like 75% of the time on the opening load sequence with the spinning Aztec icon.

I like how you have to throw rocks and other debris to trigger some of the traps. Sometimes I use the damsel as trap bait for laughs.

Chris Plante at Polygon wasn't enthralled.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD has improved graphics and new characters. It also has unreliable controls, surreal physics, and an inadequate online multiplayer mode, all of which serve to create a game that is less than the sum of its parts.

That review seemed a lot more positive than some of the impressions I have heard today from other places.

I am still on the fence about picking this up. I want to relive the nostalgia of one of my favorite games of my childhood but I don't want to be disappointed.

                                Don't do it!

I'm a huge fan of the series, but this is a really bad version. Lots of graphical issues and hardly any content at all.

Get this game instead and you'll be much happier:

It's $10 cheaper and has way more content. Plus it's backwards-compatible with the Xbox 360.
