PS3 or XBox360?
I want to step up and play with the big boys. Which system should I buy? Which system will be the best buy for this generation of consoles? I mainly play sports titles (Madden, NCAA FB, NBA2K, NCAA College Hoops, Tiger Woods) and some others (i.e.: Metal Gear, Godfather, GTA). I'm leaning toward the PS3 because I am scared of all the horror stories of the 'rings of death' ... or are the problems with the 360's greatly exaggerated? Has MS gone to smaller and cooler running chips to reduce heat in the 360's? I want to buy this week ... all facts, opinions and help would be greatly appreciated.GAME ON ...

the "new" chipsets haven't come out.. yet (I believe soon, but not out at the moment). however, 360's made after July have the new heatsink in the console, which reduces the problems (basically, that it gets soo hot the motherboard melts off & then RROD)..
I have both & enjoy both equally. for next gen DVD's, you do have to get the HD add-on to play, while the ps3 comes with the Blue-Ray..
for online play, Xbox Live right now is better than what Sony offers.. while you do pay for the service, it is easier to communicate & find your buds to play with. Sony is free, but still has a ways to go.
sports games run at 60 fps on the 360 (such as Madden & NCAA) where the ps3 plays 30 fps - (doesnt matter to me), but graphically games appear cleaner on the 360..
cant go wrong with either system -
Re: PS3 or XBox360?
not regretting my ps3 purchase at all. I'm more intrigued by the ps3 exclusives than te 360 exclusives. When I had my 360, I was mostly just a sports gamer, but I see myself playing all sorts of games on my PS3. Bottom line though, can't go wrong with either.Comment

Re: PS3 or XBox360?
As I've said before in these threads, it all comes down to exclusives. If you want Halo, Gears of War, and Mass Effect, get a 360. If you want God of War, Metal Gear Solid, Heavenly Sword, and MLB, then get a PS3. If Microsoft continues their baloney about roster saves, then I'll probably go all PS3 next season.Comment

If you're looking to play this year's sports titles, it's really a no brainer... 360 all the way.
60 fps vs. 30 makes a huge difference. Up to this point, every third party sports title performs and looks better on the 360.Comment

Re: PS3 or XBox360?
This probably would have been better off as a poll.
I have a 360, but I'm planning on getting a ps3 when MGS4 comes out. This coming year, supposedly ps3 will be back on track with a bunch of good games, and they won't be so far behind the 360 with all of these great titles already released.
I guess it's really a win-win situation.Comment

Even though I'm late to the party...
I like both systems for what they offer, but the 360 has MORE of what I want to play this year.
I love The Show though.
I think I'll enjoy Heavenly Sword even if it's light on length. It's a pretty looking Hack'n'Slah that I'm looking forward to playing. The PS2 versions of NCAA and Madden play nicely on the PS3 as well.
The 360 though has me at everything else, sadly, considering the 360 does have some physical character flaws.BeyondMediaOnline.comComment

Re: PS3 or XBox360?
I have both, and I do prefer the 360 version of Madden easily. However, I do think 2008 will be the year of the PS3. Starting with Live 2008, the fps issue will be a dead issue. And the sixaxis rumble is rumored to drop in October.
You also have this rumor:
My biggest issue with my 360 is uncertainty meaning that you never know if/when your system will brick. I'm also not a fan of paying for online service. Then you got MS dropping new skus every few months.
I'm not gonna lie, I prefer my ps3, and I know the games will come.
You can't lose either way, but in the long run, I do think the PS3 is a better investment.Comment

Re: PS3 or XBox360?
It looks like you have decided with the 360. I think you'll be happy. I also have both systems and right now it's the 360 by far.
You will have to pay for the online but you also get what you pay for.
Hopefully 2008 will be a good year for the PS3 as far as games go (can't get any worse), but right now it's the 360 if you want a slew of good games to play.
There have been some 360 issues with crashes but then again I'm still on my launch 360 so I haven't had any issues yet.Last edited by Skyboxer; 09-10-2007, 09:47 AM.Joshua:
