Connect it using a network cable and try again. Might be a settings issue with your wireless setup.

It still has to connect to the server to get your friends info, advertisements etc...

Yeah, it's definitely the XBL service, not the dash itself, since almost everything on the dash is fed from XBL.

Yep. After the update the two of my blades were blank and still loading while the others worked fine because there was no XBL interaction between them.

MS did a good job, and the server downtime was expected.

As far as the quickness, I'm loving it. Didn't have any problems yesterday after the update except for the first time it took to load after the update. Very nice.

I couldn't get into a game of COD4 last night for the thing locking up for 30 seconds or so at a time. Locked up two or three times on the dashboard. I was also unable to play NCAA online last night, said I needed to be connected to Xbox Live and signed into EA Sports, which I was.

Hope I can get into some games tonight.

Well just changed my Windows Live user ID with my GT and it worked nice and easy. Happy they finally allowed us to do this.

As far as removing arcade demos. They said you can't remove any demos of your games played list before the update but has anyone tried downloading the same demo again and then seeing if it is possible to remove?

I tried it last night with Boom Boom Rocket, it doesn't remove the previous demo. And that game still sucks

So why should I be excited about this whole Xvid/Divx deal? What are the main uses for that format? Other than porn, since that was mentioned on every video preview I saw for the update.

You laugh, but porn basically decided the VHS/Beta format war back in the day.

Sony seriously needs to upgrade the number of video formats they support if they want to be able to compete at all with the 360 from the "all-in-one media player" standpoint. And without WMV, that's going to be difficult....

To be honest, you don't see much WMV out there unless it's coming from MS. Even then, it's not much.

The 360 beating them to the Divx/Xvid punch was huge though. They now have Divx, WMV, MP4, MPG, AVI (I know it's a container).... Not much else used out there.

Does the 360 support h.264? EDIT: Yes it does.

The PS3 does a better job of playing the video codecs that it does support, IMO. That system is a beast.... and let's not forget it still upconverts DVD without the need to "upgrade" your original system.

As far as pictures, the 360 has definitely improved but Sony has a couple of nice little slideshows that give it the edge.

For audio, I think it's a wash.

I do agree it's pretty foolish to not have it in WMC extender. That was easily my biggest disappointment with the update.

I'd download stuff like shenmue and other stuff I didn't get around to on the xbox. I just don't want them releasing a few games at a time each week. Just release them all now, unlike nintendo.

Achievements would be cool too, and maybe the only relevant reason to slowly introduce games spread apart..

Major confirms that the new old games will not have achievements. They will only come with all the features that were available when the game originally released.

i've never been able to get my 360 to connect to my WMC notebook. anyone have any tips? is it the fact that my desktop that my 360 is connected through via router does not have Windows Media Center?

Hey I had difficulty with a computer as well and I installed TVersity and it worked just fine. Check it out at www.tversity.com, it may fix things for you as well. It streams music, videos, the works and is very easy to setup, I remember I installed it when I had about 20 beers and it was working in no time if that tells you anything, LOL.
