I was getting really excited about Halo Combat Evolved for the 360, just because of the Xbox live it could of had. Man, Bungie just remake your proudest Halo game over but with the 360 graphics and add Live multiplayer!!!! And also did any one notice how much faster the Xbox live guide pops up when you press the guide button....Wow.

Loving how fast the new dashboard is... the sluggish Guide button used to turn me off but the speed now is GREAT

Just downloaded the update about 15 minutes ago. I'm enjoying the new setup for the menus, and took the time to download all the additional free themes and gamerpics that were available.

The best part however was I inserted a DVD-R I had recently burned. After prompting me to download an additional update, all of the DIVX/XVID files on it played perfectly. No longer do I have to waste time converting NOAH/DragonGate to burn as a DVD format. Now I can simply burn a data disc and watch them on the 360.

That's what i was gonna ask...

What's the best method of getting the DiVX files on to the 360?

It's cool that all you need is a data disc!

So why should I be excited about this whole Xvid/Divx deal? What are the main uses for that format? Other than porn, since that was mentioned on every video preview I saw for the update.

LOL...Porn makes the world go round. I think it works for Movies also....? I am really bad at understanding that stuff.

Hey do you know if you can access the dashboard while playin the dl xbox orginals. Like being able to chat with a friend while playing?

I wonder too. You couldn't in the past, but with the focus of downloading original xbox games, it should be a feature.

most movies are encoded in divx/xvid avi's.. i've rarely (if ever) seen a movie in an mpeg format

I was able to play music and view photos from my Windows XP PC to the 360. (Although I did have some problems getting this to work consistently)

Now after the update, it looks like you need a Media Center PC to do this. That's a downgrade for me until I get a new PC.

Off-topic. I'm trying to sign into LIVE as I booted the system up but then it hanged (probably 'cause there's a new update but that didn't happen before). So do I:

a. wait to see if something happens

b. **** it, press the power button and turn it on again

c. Pray that my console doesn't get bricked and or see the Christmas lights

Thoughts? It's still on and unresponsive right this second...

Is there a game or CD in you disc tray. The exact same thing happened to me, so I took my cd out and then rebooted. It worked after that. Also you may want to boot up with the hard drive off and see what it does. Hope that helps.

I think you can burn on regular CD's tp and watch movies.

Or share them via Windows Media Player and view them through the Dashboard...
