I was just sitting back, playing college hoops when all of a suden my PS3 cut off. I'm trying to turn it back on but it isn't happening right now. Does anyone have any experience with this situation?

I just bought an 80gb today. Just curious if anyone can recommend any PS3 sites (news, info, etc) that they like. I'm eager to learn about the media capabilities of this thing and whatnot.

I don't know about sites too much as I mostly just read IGN, gamespot, etc but I'd highly recommend subscribing to the Playstation Magazine as it's a great magazine IMO. I can't wait to read it each month!

PS3 Firmware (v2.70) Update

Hi everyone, we’re adding some great new features with the next PS3 firmware update (v2.70) that will continue to enhance your connected experience on the PS3. The 2.70 update brings a new Text Chat feature that enables you to communicate online with your PlayStation Network friends. Now, you’ll be able to chat with up to 15 online friends using the Wireless Keypad, on-screen keyboard, or other compatible keyboard peripherals. Not only can you chat with your friends instantly, but you can also access Text Chat while playing PS3 games and even participate in up to three chat rooms at once.

In addition to Text Chat, we’ve added a few more enhancements:

Friends list on the XMB (XrossMediaBar)

• Sort your friends via their online status
• Attach larger files to the messages you send to your friends (file size will increase from 1MB to 3MB)

Video delivery service on PlayStation Store

• Video files you’ve purchased from the PlayStation Store can be backed up to an external storage device and then restored to PS3’s internal hard drive for playback – so you can clear up space on your hard drive and then restore the video anytime in the future
• Videos you’ve purchased for PSP (PlayStation Portable) system can now be transferred to PS3 for playback

Am I missing the point with this update and all the excitement for it? Sort your friends by online status? Isnt that basically what it does already anyways? At the top of my list are the ones that are on, what more can I possibly do that Im not already doing anyways? I must be missing something obvious or else this isnt very exciting on my end atleast.

Where are you seeing this excitement? I was pumped when I saw the rumored feature list, but the real deal is pretty disappointing IMO.

Maybe Im mixing this one up with a different one, I just remember people excited and waiting for an update so when I saw one was coming down the pipe tonight I figured it was the one everyone had been waiting for. Is there another one everyone is waiting on then?

Well, I think a lot of people were expecting 2.70 to implement a lot of different things. You can read the rumored features list that was posted a couple pages ago and compare them to the actual patch notes.

Thats what I was thinking of, so none of the trophy stuff made it into the update? It was rumored and mentioned that things like an auto synch in the background so we didnt have to synch it ourselves everytime we unlocked a trophy would be included but I dont see it mentioned as actually being included, is this the case?
