hey man 3 months ago my 60 gb ps3 had the same problem i was told it was due to over heatng so last month i sent it in on the wensday before mormeoril day and got it back that friday before memoril day
you dont have to wait for them to fix as here is what happens
you have to fill out a service request at playstation.com and fill out there info they will send you a box this useally takes 3 to 5 business days after that you need to box it up they did 2 night air shipping with me so they got it that wensday before memoril day
what they do is once they get your overheated system they check and make its in good condition like it has not been taken apart or trampered with
ome they recieve it the old ps3 that is they will ship you off another 1 that same day and depending on the shipment you should recieve it 2 or 3 days after
they said they do it this way so we dont have to wait on them to fix it luckly i had an 80 gb to hold me over
but my 60 gb works like new now
you should do it send it in
they are located in Lerado Texas but it was great service
anyway if you decide to do it you should let them know your disk is stuck and they will try and get it out for you
but with mine i had no disk in at the time i got the yellow light of death so hope this helps!
