$150 is pretty steep considering you can get a slim for $300. Why not sell it broken on eBay for around $100 and get a new slim?

Thought about it, but decided against it. I didn't think I could get $100 for a broken one.

is it worth spending $250 on a used ps3 60 gb? I asked the person about if they had any yellow light or overheating, and he said there have been no problems

I would buy a new slim for $300 before I did this. I believe it has a bigger hard drive, and it is brand new.

I can't remember exactly how much it was, but my brother sold his broken one on Ebay for about $150 I think......maybe even more. I know it was a heck of a lot more than we expected him to get out of it so it's worth a shot. Just put a reserve price on it if you're unsure.

I bought a gaming router from Dell about 6 months ago. I can't remember what brand it is but I paid about $80 for it and it had pretty good reviews. Anyway, I have my computer and router in the same room as my PS3 and my router connection strength on my PS3 is at 100%, but I still keep experiencing a lot of choppiness and slowdown while playing. Anyone have an idea of why this might be? I have my router hooked directly into my 360 and have had no problems with it. I used to have a Linksys router that was in a different room and it's strength was only 88% and it had the same issues with choppiness and slowdown. I thought I just needed a better router but apparently there's something else causing the problem. By the way, I don't play games online, the choppiness and slowdown occurs mainly when I'm playing MLB 09 & NCAA Football 10 against the cpu, and occasionally while playing CH2K8.

yeah, but it doesn't have backwards compatibility. Though I do have a fat ps2 to use, but I wonder if the ps3 with backwards compatibility would make Gran Turismo 4 look much better than the component cable I am using for my 32" hdtv.

Plus I would like the spend less money.

You know, I thought the exact same thing. But I bought the slim anyway and am happy. I do have a 60gig refurb that's BC but I was actually surprised at how little I used the feature. Even considering my 60+ library of PS2 games.

My kids still like to play the PS2 games so I hooked it (the 60gig)up in the spare bedroom but the slim has taken over residence of the living room.

your internet connection has nothing to do with gameplay against the CPU

Yeah...I was fortunate in this case that my PS3 would stay on for an hour or so before shutting off. I was able to copy all my save files to a flash drive before sending it off to Sony.

Sorry to hear your PS3 is having issues...which model is it?

If I disable my internet connection on the PS3, it doesn't have the choppiness and slowdown. If I leave it enabled, even though I'm not playing online, it does. It has to have something to do with it.

Ummmmmm.........that's not really funny. If you have nothing helpful to contribute, why waste time posting stuff like this? Geeez. People's lack of maturity never ceases to amaze me.

lol, that could happen to me as well. I think I may have an interest in only one game for ps2, gran turismo 4, and also a partial interest in nba live 2005, but that's because I want to make videos of some of the glitches in that game. It'd be nice to have both games look nicer through the ps3 if that makes it work that way.

I still don't think I want to spend $300 compared to less for used ps3's. Do any of you have experience with used ps3's bought from craigslist or elsewhere? Have any of the ps3's broken down or have they been in good shape?
