Its that time of year again TAXES. 2 years ago i bought my 360 and last year i bought a HDTV. Since this is the only time i have that kind of money to spend(That the wife lets me spend). I was thinking bout getting a ps3 40gb. I would like a Wii but one i can't find one and two i can always get one during the year at 249. I'm still on the edge b/c of lack of games but as of right now its the cheapest blu ray plus it plays games. There is a few games thats on ps3 thats not on 360(MLB THE SHOW ) Plus i have some friends where i use to live that has a ps3 that i can play online with that don't have a 360.

But i would like the know some things about it. I read that it just comes with SD AV so i need a HDMI right? What else do i need. Also is PSN or whatever its called have download like marketplace? Moives/arcade games/Ps1/ps2 games?
If you have a ps3 is it really worth it? After all that im still 50/50

The demo was horrible.

A shame because I liked playing those old Conflict games co-op.

I think i'll be taking the plunge next week for sure.

Is anyone pleased with college hoops or nba live on the ps3?

CH is the same as it is on the Xbox.

Nah, i always planned on getting it, but not full price. No full price for a half made game.

Anyhow, I think im going to get the PS3 tonight so i just want a fun game.

Yeah, it just didn't seem that cool...Not the worst game I've ever played or anything like that, but just nothing special.

Hey I got my income tax and may go buy a PS3, if I get it, is the HDMI cable in the box or is this something i have to buy on my own separate?

It comes with composite cables, so you're going to need to get a seperate HD cable.

Any will work. I picked up a cheaper one at Best Buy, and it works just fine.

Yeah doesn’t come with an HDMI or component cables, as rspencer86 mentioned above.

Yes, PSN/Playstation store has downloadable games, demos, game and movies trailers, wallpapers, add-on content, legacy games etc.

Besides the HD cable you should be good to go. I picked up an additional controller but you may want to hold off since the Dual Shock 3 controllers will be out soon (or now if you buy an import).

As far as it being worth it or not…well I only have the PS3. I got the PS3 for MLB: The Show, Gran Turismo and Final Fantasy. So far MLB: 07 has totally justified the purchase, really looking forward to 08 and have enjoyed non-exclusives like NHL: 08 and NBA 2K8 very very much.

Thanks for the response, wasn't aware of the PQ of The Departed. Kinda dissapointing, but it's one of my favorites, so i'll probably give the regular DVD to my father and pick up the Blu Ray version anyways.

And yes, BR is amazing! I picked up 3:10 To Yuma on BR the other day, and my lord what a difference. What was already an amazing looking movie is now full of little details I hadn't noticed.

Yeah Yuma is a great movie all around. While I find the image of BR amazing I think the fuller sound does an even better job of immersing me in the movie and the gunfight at the end was quite amazing.

If you want the reigning champion of BR movies just in terms of sharpness and clarity then rent the movie "Crank" with Jason Statham. It was the best looking SD movie I ever saw but it is just spellbinding in BR. I've never seen a movie better than this that made you feel you were right there. The sound's great too. The movie itself is OK but it doesn't really matter because it just looks so good and makes you want to own it just as a showcase for BR to your friends.

Went to Walmart to pick up my PS3 and they had none in stock. The sales guy went on about how the 80 and 60 are being discontinued and blah blah.

I'll just go to another one tomorrow.

The 60 is already discontinued and the 80 is already discontinued at Best Buy.

I didnt know the 80's were being done away with this soon.

I'll start off with a couple of games. You guys receommended Drakes fortune, so ill get that, and college hoops because im sick and tired of the 360 version giving me DDE's every other freaking game.

Yep. I was at Best Buy today and went by the gaming section and to my surprise no 80GB. Only 40. Out of curiosity I asked the guy to check the surrounding BBs for the 80 and none came up.

Warhawk is a really fun game if you're into online games.
