I beleive your ps3 has bit the dust. Happened to me same way (not recently though).

Are there 3 beeps involved?

Quick question. Whats it mean when the ps3 turns on, beeps then nothing? (goes back off) It's real quick as far as how long its "on".
Just beep then off....

Im sure i wont be lucky and its another bs moment but figured i'd ask.

Sorry to say but it's done. Mine did the same thing about a year ago. It was a 60 gb fatboy.

No.. Just a beep w/red flash .. and nothing.

Strange, but apparently they do. Unless, as Burns said, it's a power supply issue. Though I don't see that being the case here with what you have described.

Edit: Further research doesn't reveal much other then 3 beeps and a flashing red light like the old fatty death marches. Maybe a call to Sony is in order.

Edit part duex: I found a post with the same issue but can't get onto the site at work maybe they have a better answer.

Ok unhooked it and checked vents etc...and everything looked ok as far as dust. Hooked it back up and it powers up.
Just a bad connection or should I be worried....?

Is it still powered on? Have you tried a game? If it's on i'd back up your saves just in case lol.

Sounds like a bad connection though, to the power supply. If the cords are in securely and it's still running then I wouldn't be worried. I'd be relieved haha.

No it's still on.... Only way I can play my Star Wars! lol

and yes I'm relieved but I was also relieved when I got my 60gb system running after the ylod. Hopefully it wasn't nothing serious

Yeah, would still back up. Is it still under warranty? If so I'd get it replaced.

Heck I don't know if it is or not... I never bought an extended warranty and got this when my fatty died...which I don't know when that was. Guess I can look in the repair thread as I was posting then. What's the manufacturer warranty length?

Did you happen to purchase it with a Visa CC? If you did, then the "warranty" would be good for two years.

They (Visa) will reimburse you for the cost of repair through Sony. Had a fatty die after one year, and went through this process. It was surprisingly easy.
