                                    The disc is in great condition. My other ps2 games all work fine. Must be some kind of fluke. Guess i will take it back and get a different copy.

                                        PS3 Fan Noise Question

                                        I've had my PS3 for just over a year now. It's always ran quietly with no noise at all the entire time I've had it. I usually play about an hour or two at a time when I have it on. Anyway, the past few days, I've noticed that the fan is making noise now about 5 or 10 minutes after turning the game on and it gets louder as I play. This is something I've never heard it do before. I'm still only playing about an hour or two so it's not being left on for long periods of time at all. My system is in an open area so it shouldn't be overheating or getting hot that quick. Could something be going wrong with my system or does this sound normal?

                                            I've had my PS3 since launch and my fan has always kicked in like that within 10 minutes after turning the PS3 on. I can definitely hear my fan, but its nowhere near as loud as the 360. I've never had a single problem with it overheating. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

                                                It's the same for me, though I've only had the system for 7 months.

                                                    Need help with PS3 Blu Ray upconverting DVD's...

                                                    Hey guys, need some help. Last night, I tried to play The Departed (regular DVD) in the PS3, but it honestly looked worse than it does on a regular DVD player. I then tried some others, and none of them looked that good. Considering it is supposed to upconvert DVD's, i'm kind of at a loss. If it helps, I have a 50 inch Magnavox DLP, and the highest setting it supports is 1080i. Is that a problem? The Blu Ray movies look great on the PS3, but it's not upconverting regular DVD's correctly. Thanks guys.

                                                        Are you using component or hdmi. I believe that you cannot upconvert via Component due to DRM violations (Component isn't secure). I think you'd only get 480p in that case.
