I'm now officially apart of the team. I'm pissed that there were no HD cables included but oh well. Question How do I get the PS3 to recognize my external hard drive?

Just set your PS3 to include both setting and it will play the right one. 720p is considered better than 1080i for the most part. Its certainly better for video games and sporting events or movies that have movement. At 32", both look great.

I actually have it set to both. Naturally, games choose it's natural max resolution so I don't have a problem with that one. With regards to movies though, it selects the highest resolution possible so that's why I'm wondering which looks best.

If there's no noticeable difference though and both look great, I'll probably just leave it as it is.

Welcome aboard Slymm!

You must make sure you format the external HDD's not flashdrives and they must be formatted FAT32

Step 1: Plug your external hd up to pc and turn it on.
Step 2: go to start>my computer>and then find your external hd
Step 3: Right click on the external hd and find format.
Step 4: Once format has been selected change the drive to Fat32
Step 5: Format the drive as Fat32.

Make 3 directories, MUSIC, PICTURE, VIDEO

And Ive never understood that, I was always told that interlaced is better for portraits and non-moving objects while progressive is better for quick moving objects, but when do you see a portrait on your screen? Isnt something always moving anyways? Im probably being too literal but if this isnt true then Im clueless as to what would make progressive better then interlaced in the first place.

I've posted this before, but nonetheless: I CANNOT TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 1080p, 1080i, or 720p. Maybe I have some lame-o eyes or something, but seriously, I have a 1080p Sony Bravia that doesn't look an ounce better than my 1080i Olevia. NOT AN OUNCE! Not that 1080p is some big scam or something, but the difference is so subtle and marginal ... HD is HD.

It depends on the size of the TV too. 1080p is for TV sets 50" or larger.....granted it is still fine with smaller sets, but its to help get a better resolution out of larger sized screens. Another thing to consider too is that if you have a 1080p set that does an excellent job deinterlacing a 1080i source, it will upconvert that to a 1080p signal. Essentially, 1080p and 1080i are the same.....1080p helps with fast moving objects on screen to make them appear without any issues.

I essentially gave it away to my roommates' boyfriend for $210 (includes 360, 1 controller, APF 2k)

yep, the US never gets special consoles like this, except for the halo stuff. Japan got all kinds of special limited edition xboxes, while even canada got the crystal clear one.
