One thing that I love is no advertisements. The XMB is nice and clean. That is one thing I really hated about the 360 is advertisements on your own dashboard.

You'd think that with the free service thay they would be the one's with the advertisings on the XMB but I love the clean look. It just feels less clunky.

I don't think it was about would it ever come. It's more about how the PS3 is gonna handle this & the other HD Audio Codecs. Thought many people(including myself) are happy DTS-MA is gonna be available, many people are still not happy because the PS3 CANNOT Bitstream the HD Audio Codecs & sends those codec as LPCM.

Compared to some SA that can Bitstream the Audio.

Those that doubted this coming to the US when I posted it a while back... well now it has been confirmed!

Sony have announced that the gun-metal PS3, previously thought only to be a Japanese exclusive, will be making its way to the US for Metal Gear Solid 4's launch. It'll form part of a hardware bundle that Konami are saying is "VERY, VERY Limited Edition", and I'm not inclined to disagree with them on that one. No further details than that, so we don't know how much its going to cost or whether there'll be any hoops to jump through to get one, but it probably won't be cheap, and hey, they'll probably be hard to come by to boot.

I'm sure these will go for a nice price on eBay.

Ditto.. The system continues to impress me more and more with every month that passes. The only thing that keeps me from being console monogamous with the PS3 is the 160 dollar investment I have in Rockband.

While some sticklers will point out that the PS3 can't output Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio in bitstream format, it's definitely a non-issue. Decoding the audio at the source is actually better than having the ability to bitstream high-resolution soundtracks, since it means even people with older HDMI-capable receivers can enjoy the high quality audio. Sure, your receiver won't light up the pretty DTS-HD Master Audio logo, but who cares--you still get the same great sound.

Exactly... What is a little frustrating thought is having to switch from LPCM to lossless every time you play a game/movie that doesn't offer lossless codec.

Would be sweet if SONY could get the ps3 to automatically do this on it's own...

The Best part for me about the PS3 is the firmware updates, They can keep adding additions to Blu-Ray which is great, thats what makes it one of the best Blu-Ray players to own.

The standalone players are garbage and way too expensive. It's not even a question if they're better or not. I feel bad for the cats who bought the old standalones w/o BR 2.0

I use it mainly for movies and I didn't even think for a second to buy a standalone. I was thinking about getting a dual-format player (I have a lot of HD-DVDs), but there are still playback issues with those and I've given up on that. I have the HDMI spots to spare

Same here Spectre. I use my PS3 mainly for BR Movie play-back. SA just can't compete. Load Times, Profiles & now the PS3 will offer all HD Audio Codecs for playback... For me it was a no-brainer. Man listening to a Movie in Un-Compressed PCM or True-HD via my ONKYO is amazing. Can't wait to hear to DTS-MA next week

I guess blu-ray players are a two-fold debate. From a tech upgrade standpoint, they aren't upgradeable to BD Live 2.0 which was stupid of Sony and other CE's. I had the PS3 since launch and enjoyed watching movies on there and boy did I get some good use out of it for Blu-rays.

Then in January I bought the Panasonic BD30 which is the best stand alone player on the market. I bought it because I didn't want to abuse the PS3 laser watching movies and playing games. I know many think I'm nuts when it comes to that, but this is how I am. I don't care for BD Live and to tell you the truth, I never used HDi from my HD DVD players to try and of the internet features. I think that is a nice concept, but give me the movie in high definition + some nice features/commentaries and I'm happy.

If I were someone looking to jump on the Blu tech, yes the PS3 is the better route right now until the BD Live 2.0 SAL players start showing up in the fall. Even at that point, the SAL players will still be too damn expensive. I lucked out, I got 5 free instore Blu's of my choosing and 5 mail in, which arrived this week when I bought my SAL player.

Yes, the PS3 is the most complete BD Player at the moment.

Recently I have been almost strictly using my PS3 and enjoying it more and more every day in combination with The Show. I was only using my 360 for NHL 08, but yesterday my second 360 RROD'd and I think like a lot of guys here I'm going to become a monogamous console user. With the announcement that all the EA Sports titles will be running at 60fps on the PS3 from now on I really have no need to invest any more money in the 360.
