    Re: October NPD

Doesn't look like LBP moved too many consoles. I thought it would although it still can during the holidays.

Sony better hope KZ2 doesn't flop. I don't think it will but graphics aren't always everything.

Also with NXE, $199 or $299 price and the Netflix free trial /two video game bundle, 360 is a hard system to pass on vs $399.

Sony needs a price cut but the PS3 costs too much to make to cut down so fast and at the end of the day Sony is stuck between wanting to make a price cut but not being able to.

I still enjoy the PS3 but sometimes I don't feel they try. I mean while watching TV, especially football on Sundays I see tons of 360 commercials. I've seen a couple R2 commercials but not one for LBP which was suppose to be their biggest game I thought.

Also Microsoft's huge pockets to throw money and not scared to lose money are killing Sony. It's obvious MS wanted to win out on getting market share rather than turning the penny and they're doing it with gamers and developers.

As far as LBP goes... I think the delay killed a bit of the hype.. as well as there not being a solid release date amongst retailers after the delay... I think being put out on the 28th would account for these low sales... It will be a problem if november's NPD doesn't even have LBP on the top 10 charts though

Shut up all you PS3 haters.

Nintendo still rules the roost even though the Wii has absolutely no good games.

For the RRoD. I've had 5 systems break and that only happen twice. There's people that go buy new ones anyway.

It's still odd to actually believe that a noticeable percentage of monthly sales are from people buying a console again and again. I know people said that's how the ps2 got more than 100 million sold, but those are also utterly stupid claims.

The 360 is selling well because of the price drop, great games that are pushing console sales, and the holidays coming up.

I have an anecdote that just shows how much momentum that the 360 has.

I was at Wal-Mart picking up Fable 2 and I overheard a conversation going on at the sales desk. Some redneck was buying the Arcade 360 and he had absolutely no idea what was going on. The price point has really opened up the 360 to many people who were not going to purchase it previously but its not just the price. Price does not explain moving tons and tons of software. The Wii sells Wii Play, Wii Fit,and Mario Kart... not much else going on though.

People can clamor all they want about a PS3 price cut but its not going to happen anytime soon. Sony is hemorrhaging money because of the strong yen vs. the weak dollar and the last thing a struggling company wants to do is slash revenue even further. It's silly, but Microsoft is really in a great position because its a US based company right now relative to Sony since its not really affected by these exchange rates. Also, I definitely did not think Little Big Planet was going to be a console mover and so far, I'm right.

Also, MS is producing the games that people are buying right now. I bought four games this month, the most I've bought in a month ever. Granted, one of them is Bioshock but the other three are all recent releases: Fable 2, Fallout 3, Gears of War 2. November is going to be a big console month for Microsoft.

I didn't really think so either, but it still had people paying for Beta keys on ebay and such. I can see how Sony and others thought it would be a huge deal. It'll eventually get the sales they want though, as Sony is going to bundle it with the ps3, so it'll get piggybacked sales that way. That's pretty much how Motorstorm became one of the biggest selling ps3 games to date. I had it and it was little more than a tech demo.

It's still gotta hurt Sony to see their hyped game whiff while Gears of War 2 already sold more than 2 million copies worldwide in one week.

Did Sony release the numbers for Resistance 2?

I know when I was picking up my Gears of War 2 pre-order at BB they had tons of R2 pre-orders.
