I don't know how much getting wi-fi would cost me. I'm on a pretty tight budget as it is and I only have about $200 leisure money a month. I would need to get a new router, then have the wi-fi setup. All stuff that me and nobody I know knows about or is willing to help. So I'd have to pay a computer store and then they'd probably charge me out of the *** when they find out I don't know anything.

I feel cheated on my whole system now. Madden was gonna be a big game for me but now I'm questioning whether to buy it or a leatherbound copy of The Lord of the Rings (I'm a collector of LOTR).

As for trophy hunting, that was a big draw for me getting the system. Then the games I bought didn't have trophy support. Finally got Tiger Woods 10 from the library (library lends out games for PS3, 360, and Wii) and played it, loved it, but don't feel like really trying to accomplish anything since I need to be online for a lot of the stuff. Also like someone said, without internet I can't compare trophies or get ranked.

I was going to make videogames a big hobby of mine but now I'm thinking otherwise. The only other things I do on my downtime are lift weights and read Tolkien books.

Sweet deal with the library. But yeah, as Tigerman said, getting and setting up a router should be a piece of cake. And that's all you will need to get the PS3 online, because the PS3 has built-in wireless so once you have the router set up and the PS3 finds it, you are pretty much golden. I'd be happy to help you out further if you need it, and I'm sure others on here would as well.

Yes, I would be glad to help. Especially with more advanced things such as adding your PS3 to the DMZ, Port Forwarding, or Chanel Changes.

Doh, I tried HAWX and Motorstorm Pacific Rift this week and didn't like either game. Now they are both staring at me with 1% trophy completion. I hate not finishing (or coming close to finishing) games, but I'm not going to play a game I don't enjoy just to rack up more trophies.

Man, the web interface for trophies is so much better on the European PlayStation site. I wish we'd get some of that goodness on the US site.

I love Pacific Rift... graphics are great, and it's just a ton of fun driving through all those different off road course. I'm surprised you don't like it!

The Ace Combat series has always been known for its presentation. That includes the storyline, the music, the radio chatter and the cut scenes. Take away ALL of that and you get HAWX. Pretty much everything about it was forgettable. Sure, it LOOKED good, and there was probably one or two WOW moments in the game, but I don't think it's worth paying 60 bucks for. So regarding the trophies for HAWX, you'll just bore yourself to death getting them.

Yeah, some of those trophies definitely look tricky. But if they made some of them silver, they would have to eliminate some of the trophies, so I don't mind it this way too much.

Maybe I'll give Pacific Rift another try down the road. With both games, I really didn't give myself much of a chance to adjust to the learning curve. I haven't played either genre much lately... in the case of HAWX, I haven't spent any significant time in the genre ever (unless you count Star Wars X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter on PC back in the 90's). I ended up with Killzone 2 after taking Pacific Rift to Blockbuster, as I only have this unlimited rentals plan for a week and I wanted to get something I'd enjoy. To my surprise, Killzone 2 came back in stock between when I traded in HAWX for Pacific Rift in the afternoon, and when I brought back Pacific Rift in the evening.

I think that after I get through my backlog of games I own and want to platinum or at least play through completely (Prince of Persia, Quantum of Solace), I will sign up for Blockbuster's monthly version of the pass (SqueakyD mentioned it earlier in the thread). That way, I can try all the games from the long list I have without having to buy them all, and maybe I'll give Pacific Rift or even HAWX a second chance.

I like Pacific Rift too, very cool and looks great. Trophies are kinda hard though, that's just a game I play from time to time just to drive.
