I was thinking about this the other night and decided to share my thoughts with you guys. According to Ubisoft, they believe the Next generation of systems will hit the market in 2011-2012. Here are my predictions

* Apple Will enter the Console Market because Apple is cool and they know it.

* Console Peripherals will not work on these Future Systems

* Some or all of the Consoles will support 3D technology, It may even be the backbone of one of them.

* One Major Console will try Something "groundbreaking" (think Wii) but Unlike the Wii, it will fail miserably.

*A Major third party developer will develop exclusively for Apple

* The Systems will somehow be linked to your cell phone

* The Next Xbox will have a internet Browser

* The Apple System will also be a suitable Computer

* Sports games will probably still disappoint.

I can't see myself buying any new console that comes out. I feel like the 360 has too much life left in it. No need to move on to the next big thing when I'm content with what I have. It made sense when I jumped from the original Xbox, but what will a new console really offer? The graphics on 360 are great. They should just keep on trying to make innovative games.

I agree with Pappy, I don't see any good reason why the 360/PS3 can't last another 5 years. I don't want to even think about buying a new console anytime soon.

I did think the time frame was a bit soon, personally i think the PS3 will easily outlast the Xbox by 4 or 5 years.

Im not buying another system Unless Madden is downright amazing and not a stripped down gimmick.

Yeah I can't see the reasoning behind producing another system so soon. PS3 and 360's made a pretty big leap in terms of capacity, online capabilities, etc. so I can't really see them producing another console for another 5-6 years.

I'm intrested in the "forwards" compatibility of the 360. The biggest thing is if I can transfer stuff from the hard drive or even if it uses the same one. That's important with all the DLC around. Can't get here soon enough for me,nothing to put in these HDMI ports now!

I've also learned my lesson and will absolutly not be buying a PS4.

I'm intrested in the "forwards" compatibility of the 360. The biggest thing is if I can transfer stuff from the hard drive or even if it uses the same one. That's important with all the DLC around. Can't get here soon enough for me,nothing to put in these HDMI ports now!

I don't see new consoles anytime soon. The economy won't support it. Developers can't afford it, and there's just way any of the companies can take the hit of launching right now.

Nintendo is bad enough doing the DSi and not having a single exclusive title for it at launch, I mean, why would anyone get it? I wanted one till I read all that, and it went off my list of wants.

Can't even believe Sony is thinking of another PSP.

Sony and MS can't even think of putting a new console out. Sony hasn't got the PS3 over yet. MS has had so many trust issues, why would anyone look at a new system?

The current crop of systems are fine, they will last a long time.

I say 2013 at the earliest.

I believe if the PS4 and 720 came out in Holiday 2011, it would probably sell out right away.

It's easy to sit here and say I have no interest in future systems right now but once you see the improved graphics, a certain segment of the gaming population will get sucked in right away. I remember people saying the 360 launched too quickly, yet that system sold out during the holiday season.

While I see the PS3 up on the upswing, I feel like the 360 has already peaked. It's already been reported that Microsoft is working on a game for their next system. I would be shocked if the 720 didn't come out in 2011.

What happened with you and the PS3?

Sony in general at this point.

PS1 laser died.
PS2 laser died.
2nd PS2 DRE'd. (and no I didn't get in on the class action lawsuit)
PS3 YLoD.

That's the end of that.

Through the non-Sony systems of: NES,Gameboy,SNES,N64,Gamecube,Genesis,Gamegear, Sega CD,32x,Saturn,Dreamcast,3DO,Xbox,360 and 2 PCs the only one of those that's failed on me was the 360 wich fails on everyone but at least they do something about it.

I could have sworn Sony and Microsoft already reported they wouldn't be releasing any type of new consoles until around 2012 or later. Something about the lifespan of the current consoles still have a few more years considering they were built technology wise to last longer than the tradition 5 years.

I love my 360 and my PS3 and don't see a need for a newer console considering they haven't done enough nor everything with these systems yet.
