Re: Future Console Talk
They did. Even MS said how it doesn't see the need to come out with another console just because it might be a little faster or prettier. Having the 360 at $199 in a bad economy isn't going to make them wish they had a more expensive console out either. Sony mentioned that whenever the PS4 comes out, that'll it'll still use some of the same technology to keep prices down.I could have sworn Sony and Microsoft already reported they wouldn't be wouldn't be releasing any type of new consoles until around 2012 or later. Something about the lifespan of the current consoles still have a few more years considering they were built technology wise to last longer than the tradition 5 years.
There's no reason why they couldn't be at least planning the next one though, especially after the whole RROD thing popped up after having to rush through the console's design.Comment

Re: Future Console Talk
Neither company can afford anything close to resembling the RROD fiasco in their next generation of consoles. Microsoft has probably spent a fortune on shipping and repair costs, and since apparently they still haven't fixed the issue yet, they will throw away even more money in the future.Ryan Spencer

The Wii 2 (The Wii-Wii) will come out, use all existing peripherals (but be bundled with a new Wiimote with Motion Plus built-in), and be hi-def.
Hi-Def will be cheaper to produce at this point, as will LARGE internal storage, so, once again, Nintendo will be able to be at the cheap end of the spectrum while everyone else is pushing the technology limits and upping the price.
Everyone will be happy with cheap hi-def graphics and it will be the beneficiary of being a 1/2-generation behind.XBox Gamertag: djbeth77

Re: Future Console Talk
Sounds nice, but I don't see Nintendo doing it unless they get bored of making money or the wii demand completely dies off by 2011. Wii's are still selling more in a month than the 360 and ps3 combined, and they proved that tens of millions of people don't care at all about graphics. The Wii 2 (The Wii-Wii) will come out, use all existing peripherals (but be bundled with a new Wiimote with Motion Plus built-in), and be hi-def.

This might be the first console that never has a price drop ever. Nintendo is actually raising the wholesale price for retailers in the UK...

Re: Future Console Talk
Truthfully I think everyone should have a Wii in their home. While I don't think the Wii is a main console, Millions upon Millions are having fun. And now the fitness craze is hitting this console. I recently bought "My Fitness Coach" and it doesn't need the Wii fit board. It uses stuff you may already have. I never thought I would have a Wii as I thought it was a gimmick. But my brother bought it for me as a house warming gift and I wouldn't be without. With that said, Nintendo will come out with a new console as I'm positive the new console is in early stages. But, I really think nintendo will announce the new console only when the Current Wii slowly goes down in sales. right now they are making money on every console sold and they are being sought out, So why announce a future console now? It wouldn't make good business sense. When they finally announce a new console I'm sure it will use alot of the periphials that the current Wii has. I think that Microsoft needs to come out with a new console soon. With the constant RROD issues, It's iffy to buy a 360..Too bad because the 360 IMO is one he@* of a console. Xbox Live is great. People pay for it but they don't care because of what you can do with it. PS3 has plenty to offer right now and if anything they can release differen't add on's later. But they have a console that is very secure right now. Once they drop the price, It will sell like hotcakes. i wouldn't think of buying one right now because of the rumored price drop but when it does, I will be the first in line. I think Millions of people feel the same way. there are alot of people out there that would get it soley for the web-Browser and the Blu ray player. But right now people can get inexpensive blu ray so why get the Ps3 as its 200.00 more.Comment

But they also said that it's in early development. Halo 4 took 4yrs to make. So if they started hard core development in 2009, you'd be looking at 2012-2013 for a new system.BeyondMediaOnline.comComment
