My launch 60GB just went out. Downloaded firmware 3.21 and it sounds like multiple people are experiencing something similar

My 60 GB died a couple days ago. It had the YLOD. The fan started getting really loud. Last January, the bluray drive broke so I sent it in to Sony. Bad thing was I had to pay $150, good thing was I got the same console back with all my files still on it. Anyway, I went on youtube and found a repair video for the YLOD. I figured what do I have to lose...the thing is broken anyway.

Well I couldn't believe it when I put it back together, turned it on and the damn thing worked! I played Just Cause 2 and MW2 for several hours last night and the fan ran really quiet. I read that it's just a temporary fix and will eventually happen again so I'm thinking of tranferring all my data and trading it in while it's working.

Last year the bluray drive broke and I sent it in. Second time, it broke (ylod) a couple days ago and I fixed it myself. Took the whole thing apart...search "ps3 ylod" on youtube.

Man my ps3 has been a problem for the last month. My blu-ray lens died and I got it changed twice already and it went out again last night. When will this stop... I can't wait for it to be fully working so I can sell it and get a slim. I still have warranty from the place who fixed it twice so here comes another lens

Re: PS3 Repair and/or Death Thread

Seems like the PS3 has gone from rock-solid to not-all-that-reliable in just a year or so's time. If the failure rate for the 360 wasn't 95% this would be a pretty big story.

**** these current gen consoles, all of them. I've had numerous 360 deaths, and now even the ps3 has failed me. It's gotten beyond old. I'll just have to dig out and hook up my n64 or SNES, which still work.

The ps3 is just as unreliable as the 360. The difference is that MS won't charge you for the 3 red rings, but sony will charge you for everything. $150 for a repair is way over priced. After 2 years be prepared for your ps3 to mess something up. In my case the lens. 3 times!!!!

I came home from work last night, prepared to watch a movie on the internet with my wife over my PS3. I get in the door and my wife says, "The Playstation will not cut on." So I figured it was nothing as I go up to press the power button. It flashed yellow and the first thing i said was, "**** it!!" Its the yellow light of death."

I am going to try to replace the hard drive today and see if that works. if not, i dont know what ill do.
