Re: PS3 Repair and/or Death Thread
There are some third party places that'll fix it cheaper then sony but I'm not sure the reliability. There are some also though that offer guarantees (sp?) with their service.Originally posted by Anthony BourdainThe celebrity chef culture is a remarkable and admittedly annoying phenomenon. Re: PS3 Repair and/or Death Thread
I got the YLOD last month, the warranty was past over due so I just purchased a PS3 Slim. Im glad I backed up all of my data."The more you sweat in practice , the less you bleed in battle."

Man these PS3s aren't as solid as I thought they were. Definitely not to RROD-level yet but still kind of disappointing.Ryan Spencer

Re: PS3 Repair and/or Death Thread
I got a response to the BBB complaint this time this time.
They offered to replace it with a slim for $120 and repeated the $150 to get the current one fixed.
I told them they just don't get it and aren't getting another cent out of me nor can they.
I finally got them to acknowledge the YLOD is a problem but they said they don't know what causes it so aren't going to do anything.
Now that I think of it I should of asked if they enjoy spitting in their customers faces and if they perfer MS to continue to get the $10 cut of the 2-5 games I buy per month when they asked if I had any other questions.Last edited by goh; 01-14-2010, 06:30 PM.Comment

Re: PS3 Repair and/or Death Thread
I got the BBB resoultion e-mail. Sony's claimed I told them I'd think about it.That's not what I told them at all. Have to wait for another e-mail thing now I guess or another call, hopefully I'll remember to say that other stuff this time.
After this fails (I'm assuming so anyway) I'm going the EECB route.Comment

Re: PS3 Repair and/or Death Thread
You can also try and unplug your PS3 for a bit and then turn it on. It may stay on long enough for you to copy the files you want if you do choose the Sony route (long wait, high price and wiped hard drive).Comment

Re: PS3 Repair and/or Death Thread
Some guys are using the home remedy fix by getting the guide and fixing it themselves. You could also have a local guy repair your PS3 for less than what Sony charges. Your saves and info are all on your hard drive which is fine. It's the heatsink on the chip that's bad. Once that's fixed you will get all your stuff back.

Re: PS3 Repair and/or Death Thread
My buddy just got the YLOD on his Slim. Sony is replacing it for free, he is mailing it out today, should have it back in a week to 10 days they told him.
When they replaced my PS3 when it died, they were quick about it as well.Comment

Wow, this is happening on the Slims too? Why can these companies fix the persistent reliability issues?Ryan Spencer
