I'm in the same boat, I love gaming, but now that I'm older, married, and with a full time job, priorities change. This year I've only got BF3 and Gears 3. If this was 10 years ago I'd have Madden, Dead Island, MW3, Batman, heck I'd probably have a PS3 as well with a bunch of games lol.....but there is no way I have enough time (unless I want to cut into sleep, working out, or time with my wife).

But when I did have all the games sometimes I would feel stressed about playing them all. Now its easy for me to mentally shut out games that I think would be fun but don't have time for

I have a very intimidating list of games I need to "beat," or at least play through the single player completely. I'm in way over my head, and I don't have anywhere near the time to game as I used to or like to. But, it's my hobby, so what are you going to do? I might add that I'm 36, married with children, have a two hour commute each way to work. Those things don't lend themselves to having a lot of extra time on your hands.

Of the ones on that massive list that I've played, New Super Mario Bros. is easily the most fun. Start with that.

Thanks for the advice. Now, I must say, that most of the games on that massive list, I've at least played a few to several hours of the single player piece. Like New Super Mario Bros. I think I'm on Level 8? the fire world, if I remember correctly.

Also, MP usually takes up so much of the gaming time I do get. And most recently, I've focused on a single game to play through, so I can take it off the list. I started with Batman AA and then Red Dead Redemption, and completed those.

And I've been pretty good with waiting to pick up games until they're either cheap or used. Except for the flurry of games we had the last few weeks.

Re: Guilt, gaming and the "too many games" syndrome

I currently have 5 games I want to play.

                NHL 12
                Madden 12
L.A. Noire (I have completed one disc)
                Dirt 3
                Modern Warfare 3

I play 1-2 NHL 12 games during the week, then a 3-4 on the weekend. I play 1-2 games of my Madden franchise on the weekend. I really want to play L.A. Noire, but I like to play that in long periods of time, so I can get into the cases more. Luckily with the holidays coming up I can do that.

I really want to play Dirt 3, but I need to get a steering wheel. Modern Warfare 3 I just got yesterday, but I plan on adding a 1-2 missions a week, or maybe a couple of online matches if I can get interested in MP again (I played Black Ops for maybe a week, and couldn't get into it at all).

So that is my schedule for Games this year. A lot different than last year, which was just a rotation of NHL 11 and NBA 2K11.

For you guys playing NHL 12, how is it? I've been debating getting it.
I realize I could go to the NHL area, but I don't want to wade through the rubbish. Just an answer, is it good or not?

Skyrim on it's own is a rediculous time vaccum!

I don't know how many times I have said "ok just 5 more minutes" or "ok I'll just see what's over this ridge" then boom two hours later I'm still glued to the screen.

My wife might letter bomb Bethesda if this keeps up.

Re: Guilt, gaming and the "too many games" syndrome

I've seen people post their "unfinished" list, so here's mine. These are only games that I currently own, and do not include sports games (which I don't believe can be truly "finished", even if you win a championship)

                            First...

                            The Special Cases:

                            Oblivion
                            Fallout
                            Skyrim

Special because you can sink 50+ hours into them without breaking a sweat, and not even think about starting the main quest. I got a little ways into the main on Oblivion (the second storyline plane, I think), barely touched it on Fallout and currently am a short ways into Skyrim's. I may never beat these games, but I have probably logged more time on them combined than the other games on this list put together.

Now for the more normal ones:

High Priority (these take priority over even the above and sports games - they're getting done before anything else):

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD (PS3) - My current project, and all else in terms of storyline quest games are on hold until it and the next one are done. In addition, I had this one on the PSP and never beat it - I'm looking forward to scratching it off the list ASAP.

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty HD (PS3) - Maybe I shouldn't include this since I've long since beaten the game itself, but I do plan to hit MGS2 for the trophies. Next after Peace Walker.

Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty Campaign (PC) - This one kills me. It keeps getting passed over for newer releases, and I HAVE to finish it before Heart of the Swarm comes out.

Medium Priority (aka if the Bethesda Big Three + sports games ever become tiresome):

Disgaea series through 3 (PSP-PS3): I've wanted to get back into this, but it keeps getting pushed back. I have sort of a disturbing habit with Strategy RPG's, as you'll soon see...

Persona (PSP): The rare "normal" RPG that isn't an immediate play-through and finish for me. It's not that I don't like it, it's just a bit more confusing than your average RPG. Could get into it if I had more time to fully understand it.

Infamous (PS3): Still sitting on my PS3 HDD after the hacker attack fallout. Tried to get into it a few times, but just haven't been able to keep going.

Tactics Ogre (PSP): Yup, another SRPG. This one might have been a mistake to buy knowing full well that I have issues with finishing these. But until I beat one other SRPG in particular, the others won't even get a sniff...more on that later.

Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City (PC): Becoming dated. I'm still blissfully unaware of the plot, so I might give these a go sometime.

Low Priority (The proverbial back-burner. Might never finish.)
                            :

Battlefield 3 (PC): I bought it for the multiplayer, not the campaign.

Bioshock (PC): Could be higher, but I've already had the story long since spoiled.

                            Mass Effect (PC): See Bioshock.

Fate/Extra (PSP): Not the kind of game I was expecting; I knew it was going to be an RPG, but this one gives "text heavy" a whole new meaning. And the battle system just isn't much fun (think rock, paper, scissors and not a whole lot else besides). A shame because I'm really getting into the Type-Moon universe.

                            -------------------------

There's one more, and it deserves special mention. This is the reason I know I have issues with finishing SRPG's. I've played it extensively on two platforms (PS1 and PSP) over the course of 12 YEARS and never played it long enough at a time to get all the way through it.

                            Final Fantasy Tactics.

Even I don't know why I can't finish this damn game, and still want to. Maybe I'm just in denial. Amazingly, I've managed to avoid spoilers for this game the entire time, just in case I do ever feel the urge to plow through it.

And it's not that I dislike SRPG's - Valkyria Chronicles still classifies as one despite its 3rd person movement and it's one of my favorite games on both the PS3 and PSP. But the more traditional ones...I dunno what it is, I can never get into them enough to get all the way through them.

Don't know what you're missing! Loved the first one. Not completely sure on the 2nd just yet as the demo felt a little touchy with the controls, but seems completely worth it.

Honestly, I kept putting off the Starcraft II campaign forever. I, like most other people, was engrossed in the multiplayer, so I hardly touched the campaign. Then, one day I randomly started doing some missions. Two days later I had beaten the campaign. It's about as good as you can get for an RTS game.
