I don't have both systems anymore, but when I did, I really didn't notice much of a difference. The franchise with the biggest difference was probably NBA 2k, but even with that one, it's almost not even worth mentioning.

For me, it came down to these factors:

MLB The Show. If you like baseball at all, it's not even close.

Blu-ray. I'm not a huge movie guy, but I think it's a must have for HDTV owners.

Much easier to share and transfer rosters.

Free online play. Not a huge deal there, but you're saving at least 50 bucks a year.
    Now, more than ever

He doesn't like Baseball and doesn't play online, so its basically a toss up. As I recommended earlier, go with whatever you can find the best deal with.

Not playing online is almost all MORE the reason to get a PS3 though. Why pay $50 a year if all you need the internet connection for is roster updates, etc.

Roster updates, patches and tuners are free on XBL. They don't require a $50 annual gold membership, only a silver, which is free.
It's on me. I shook his hand too hard. It was a hard ... kind of a slap-shake.

"What? You can't challenge a scoring play?''

I thought you had to have a Gold membership to get Madden's roster updates?

Yep, same goes for 2K's roster share. No gold, no rosters.

That's not true, at least in the case of College Hoops 2K8. I have a Silver account and just downloaded a bunch of roster files off of 2K Share. And I'm pretty sure I just downloaded some roster files on NBA 2K10 and again, had just a Silver membership.

Odd, at my friend's we had to use a 48 hour trial to download from 2K. Perhaps it changed? I dunno.

You're pretty sure? Or you're positive? I know you can't with EA football games, so even with those two games, if you don't plan on playing on line, why pay the now $60 yearly fee just for rosters when you can get them for free on PS3?

Excatly why I moved my football gaming over to the PS3. And yes, I can confirm that in NBA 2K10 and College Hoops 2K8 you just need a Silver account to access and download files from 2K Share.
