Any advice on this would be great.
I bought a ps3, 60 gb with backwards compatability in July 07. In July 09 it YLOD on me. I went gameless for about 4 months before finally deciding to send it in for repairs. In late November Sony sent me a refurb unit (also 60 gb bc), which I play to this day.
However, I noticed about 2 weeks ago while playing NCAA that the fan was extremely loud. So I took back NCAA (used copy) thinking it was the game. But now I notice that any game in the system for over 45 minutes will cause the fan to run loudly. Is this something I should be worried about? Should I look to "get rid of the system while I can" or do other people notice their fat ps3 fans get loud. I never noticed it before, so I'm wondering is this a regular thing for people or a warning sign. Also, when I stop the game and return to the XMB, the fan goes quiet. And when I first start a game the fan is quiet for the first 30 minutes or so.
Note: When my previous sytem YLOD on me I was COMPLETELY oblivious to any warning signs the system may have been giving me. At the time I had no idea what YLOD was and I thought that the PS3s were basically indestructible, which is one reason why I went w/ps3 in the first place. So it's not like I "remember" if the fan getting loud was something the system was doing before it conked out.
