If they want to make a tablet to enter into the portable market, then fine. But to REPLACE the console? That might be the worst idea ever.

Yeah, exactly. Tablets are cool, but what the article mentions is stuff they wouldn't be able to do within 5-10 years anyways...You're not gonna have Kinect in a tablet in 3 years (at least not something that's affordable for a new system).

The next Xbox will be a normal console. Possibly a bit more dependent on digital downloads, but they wouldn't go to a tablet now (especially when Windows 7 tablets haven't even dropped yet).

Maybe (a big maybe) MS uses a tablet as a way to get into the portable market, but that'd be separate from current systems.

Terrible article. All it had was a quote from Marc Rein from E-pic who suggested that their next console should be a tablet. No where does it say that MS was considering one.

I don't understand the Tablet craze. I like the idea for some settings, but I definitely don't want them for consoles. From when I've used them, I don't even like surfing the internet on them, though they would be advantageous if you just wanted to sit back and relax on your couch while surfing the internet, I guess.

Anyways, that article sucked. It was basically one quote.

I doubt it'll be a tablet, but it will be interesting to see what MS does with the xbox platform and Live. The traditional model for subsidizing an expensive console was busted this gen. They've spent billions on the xbox platform and the 360 is going to fall to 3rd worldwide at some point this gen anyways. If Kinect is a dud, then who knows where they go next.
