I'm going to go back by there at lunch and see if I can find someone else. The lady I spoke to yesterday knew about the deals, but the lady this morning was clueless.

But since Target doesn't have the 3 games I want (really not sure of a third game) I might buy Uncharted and buy Hot Shots twice. I can take one copy of Hot Shots to Wal-Mart and get a gift card in exchange. I could use it on more Vita stuff or hold off until The Show or something else I want.

That's awesome! Is it in store as well or just online? Right now I have Hot Shots, The Show and Little Big Planet in my cart.

Yeah, I am not rooting for failure myself, but it seems pretty apparent the direction Vita is going after how it launched in Japan where mobile gaming is a much more mature market and the vague advertisements with single vague features like '3G Gaming' that they are repeating many of the same mistakes they made with the PS3 (here's a black monolith of a console... floating in a room... buy it, no, we're not going to give you a reason to in this commercial... no, we're not going to show you game footage...).

It will do well it's first week or two, and then the price cut waiting game begins if sales here reflect the similar dive in Japan. Then you have to wonder how patient 3rd parties will be, with one report already out there that developers are leaving the Vita for the 3DS that just passed 5m units sold in Japan - faster than any other Nintendo device ever.

I agree with much of this article:

What I guess the Vita really needs to succeed is a Pokemon game. That's really all you need nowadays.

Or, perhaps they didn't want people buying a bunch of used PSP games for their Vita instead of paying full price for Vita games. It's the PS3 backward compatibility gaffe all over again.
If this was just Sony wanting to fleece consumers they wouldn't have offered the service to begin with. Blame this on a combination of survey takers not saying they would utilize the program and lower sales of PSP hardware/software. If it's going to cost more to set up the program than they would actually bring in, they just aren't going to do it.

Picked mine up at 10 am this morning as soon as BBY opened up. It was cool of the BBY mgr to transfer my pre-order from another store. The guy couldn't stop laughing when I whipped out my reward zone certs and gift cards for this thing and I had $12 left on a gift card afterwards. I told him I was hoarding my certs/gc's for months in anticipation for this. I can't wait to get this thing running later on tonight since I left the memory card at home since my original intention was to pick it up on the way home from work.

Or Monster Hunter which I think is slated for release sometime this year. The Japanese market loves Monster Hunter.

Yeah, it was just my opinion from seeing it in the store. Your's might be different. Once I get the actual Vita I'll be able to give some better impressions on the one I got. But I figure if I don't like it I can always return it to Target.

They had to offer the service in Japan or nobody would have bought the Vita to begin with, as the PSP still sells and titles are still being released (and now it outsells the Vita).

From the article itself, Sony said they make more from PSP sales in Japan than they do in the US. That pretty much spells it out: they didn't want people to buy PSP games for their Vita in the US instead of Vita games at full price, and if they did they wanted them to buy them digitally directly from them.

                          Re: Sony PSVITA Discussion

Well, Amazon credited my account 19 dollars yesterday for buying a memory card and an additional 20 today. That's enough to get a free game. The question is... what game? I think it'd be better to have a second game alongside hotshots for my week out of town.

Fifa could be cool, but I'd much rather have a 2K, NHL, NCAA or even Madden. Soccer and baseball would be last on my list, but maybe FIFA can hold me over as my sports title until 2K is hopefully announced.

UGA sounds good but the re-playability seems low for a 50 dollar title.

I could also buy Rayman or Lumines and tell the guy at the mom and pop store that I only want one of them. Decisions.

Well, I went with your suggestion, but it's out of stock so I didn't know if I'd get it in time. So, I went with Lumines from Amazon and am sticking with Rayman at the mom and pop store when I go to visit my family again. I'll save the rest of my credit for something that REALLY interests me.

I seriously heart Amazon. I ended up spending 99 cents on Lumines after they credited me twice for not getting a memory card I never wanted in the first place.

Question: For those that have the system, do I need special headphones or will any pair (like my I-Pod earbuds) work just fine?
