Re: Sony PSVITA Discussion
I'm buying it as well. Have some games to trade in that should take around 30$ off the cost of the game. So I don't mind paying 10$ for the game. If it sucks, I can trade it in and get more money back than what I paid for.
I just want this for the MP. I need a competitive MP shooter on my Vita. I've played far worse FPS shooters on the 360, so I'm not worried.Xbox LIVE GT: oALEXtheGREATo

Re: Sony PSVITA Discussion
Alright guys, I had this pre-ordered and went ahead and picked it up about noon today, not quite knowing what to expect.
I've played through 2 episodes of the single player and I can assure you this is not a "2" rated game as Destructoid would have you believe.
Graphics certainly suffice for a handheld, controls, while they do take a bit of getting used to are fine. I've had no problem using the touch screen for alt fire as some who have reviewed seemed to have.
The story, I'm not very far in mind you, seems to be just OK but I don't really play a shooter for the story.
The weapons are really great, while only two episodes in I've seen a variety of them and all suit their purpose.
While this game does not really do much that we haven't seen, what it does do, at least for me is provide an entertaining experience. And I haven't even touched multi-player yet.
For some reviewer to give this game a "2" would suggest at least to me, that the reviewer had some axe to grind....just absurd. A "2" rated game for me would mean it's unplayable.....that is certainly not the case here.
Again, I'm not far into the game but what I've read is that the single player gets better about half way through. Having not played the multi-player I can't comment on it. And while I am not actually reviewing this game for you guys.....I would rate it at a 7.5 at this point.
If you pick it up and want to try some multi-player feel free to add me.......OPD897.

I don't really care about the "2", but rather the justification behind it. There are plenty of absurd threads in the Madden/NCAA forums I'm sure of people saying those games should be a 7 instead of a 9, etc. The damning part is that it wasn't a one paragraph and rate it type review but instead several paragraphs detailing each part they didn't like.
Many of these things at a glance are mentioned in a lot of the reviews, especially the graphics comparisons to games like Uncharted. In a industry where a 7 has become mediocre to bad, that is why comments like this are about a game rated '6':
It's a reserved, almost lazy attempt, and developer Nihilistic always opts for the safe bet. The shooting is top notch, but poor pacing and bland environments ensure you never engage with what's going on, and technical hiccups and formulaic game modes sour the multiplayer. This game proves the potential power of the genre on its device, but not the potential excellence of its own franchise.
7.0
Good: 7s are well-above average games that definitely have an enthusiastic audience within their *genre*. Some might lack replay value, could be too short, or has are some hard-to-ignore faults. Nevertheless, the experience is still very fun.Comment

Re: Sony PSVITA Discussion
I've heard the story is a bit bland, but I've only completed one chapter in so I can't comment on that side of things. A.I is alright (I'm playing on normal difficulty). The levels are pretty linear (very similar to CoD's linear gameplay). The first chapter took me around a half hour to 45 minutes complete, but I kind of rushed through things.
I bought this game for the multiplayer side of things though. I wanted a competitive FPS, but as of right now it's not working like it should. Matchmaking 98% of the time, doesn't work. Dev's are aware of this issue, but it's a bit disappointing that it doesn't work like it should at launch. But from the videos I've seen on Youtube, it looks to play out like your typical online FPS. A very basic create a class system paired TDM, Free for All, and Survival mode. So I can't comment on how the multiplayer portion of the game plays, because I haven't played a single game.
This is the first FPS game on the Vita, so I didn't expect a 9/10 score. I would give this game a 7/10, it's a decent start for FPS games on the Vita, it doesn't bring anything new to the FPS table (except for touch screen controls) but the game itself doesn't suck. Like I said earlier in this post, don't expect to be blown away. It's your typical FPS. I traded in a few games to bring the cost of Burning Skies to $2. So for me, $2 was worth it. I haven't felt disappointed with the game, but I do feel they could've done a bit better.Xbox LIVE GT: oALEXtheGREATo

Re: Sony PSVITA Discussion
I'll post this here too, in regards to Resistance:
I finally got a chance to try out the demo for a bit this morning, and demo or not, I can say, without a doubt, that the 2/10 from Destructoid is just an embarrassing excuse of a review. I've played some bad games in my time, and to put this title in that category is ridiculous. The controls are tight and responsive (including the touch screen actions), the graphics are decent, and the sound is absolutely fine (with a great orchestral soundtrack). Hell, it even offers a very nice cover system, something that most console shooters don't even do.
By no means is this a "great" game, but based on what I played, I'd say a 6, maybe 7 is completely fair. And beyond that, it was just a very enjoyable experience. I'll say again too, that Destructoid score is just laughable, almost to the point where that writer had to have some sort of agenda going in.
I've got a couple other titles to finish up first, but after trying the demo out for myself, I will definitely pick this up down the road. And for those of you who were also excited for this, I strongly urge you to try out the demo as well, as I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.Comment
