E3 2012: Assassin's Creed Vita Revealed?
Looks like some secrets just won't keep until E3 -- if NeoGaf is to be believed. Over on the videogame forum, a poster claims to have the July issue of Game Informer, and inside are the first details on Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation for the PlayStation Vita.Set between 1765 and 1780 and somehow involving 1763's end of the French and Indian War, Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation will supposedly cast players as a French black female assassin named Aveline. The details point to Ubisoft Sofia developing the game, it not being related to Desmond, and "multiplayer specifically tailored to the Vita experience." The poster said Liberation will launch alongside the console version of Assassin's Creed III on October 30th.
Ubisoft offered a "no comment" when approached for this article.
Of course, take all of this with a grain of salt for the moment as it is just information from a message board. If you have the issue of Game Informer, go ahead and confirm the details in the comments below. Otherwise, watch the Ubisoft and PlayStation E3 press conferences on IGN Monday to see if either party sheds some light on Assassin's Creed Vita.Comment

After three demo playthroughs, I decided to pick up my copy of Resistance. Game is very fun, and while not necessarily a great Resistance game, it's a very good FPS.Comment

Re: Sony PSVITA Discussion
I appreciate they are at least trying, but just flat ports from the PS3 isn't going to work. As much as I like my Vita, a major release like that is just going to be better on the PS3 and I can't imagine me paying so much more for the moderate convenience of playing it on both.Comment

A completely different main character and no ties to Desmond... Where are you seeing that this is a port?Comment

Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation (Vita) revealed in Game Informer
• Its out same day as AC3 (oct30)
• Location is New Orleans
• Female assassin named Aveline
• Looks like same time period as AC3
• ubisoft sofia is devolping
• takes place during 1765-1780 in the period between the end of the french and indian war
• one of the bullet points is that it's "true AC gameplay"
• will not connect to desmond
• will have "multiplayer specifically tailored to the vita experience"
• "the game has been released as a propaganda tool by Abstergo, who want players to experience a gray area of the Assassin/Templar conflict as an assassin rather than a templar"
• Aveline's mentor is an escaped slave named Agate, leader of the assassins in New Orleans
• Wildlife like alligators "wait on the banks of the swamp or hide beneath murky waters"
• Liberation will also take players across the Gulf into Mexico"
• Game will take place in "Large gameplay areas, you can run, climb, fight, and explore the entirety of New Orleans without loading a new area."
If true, we'll certainly know next week.Comment

Besides, I don't want rehashes of IP on the Vita, give me new stuff ala Gravity Rush.Comment

Re: Sony PSVITA Discussion
It's not that it's a port, but more like it's just a console game on the Vita. My favorite Vita game is still Mutant Blobs Attack, because it actually used the different ways of controlling the system in interesting ways.

Re: Sony PSVITA Discussion
Played the Resistance demo for about 15 minutes. It's not amazing but it's better than any FPS ive ever played on my ipod touch and it's not even close. I was hoping for more but I will buy this the next time I'm going on a long trip.Comment

Madden isn't going to be a true console experience either, it's going to be a watered down version of 12.
Idk, if I'm going to get shadows of console experiences, I'd rather just play the console game on PS3/Xbox. Things like motorstorm and mutant blobs have been my favorite games on the system.Comment

Re: Sony PSVITA Discussion
These are launch titles. PS3 and Xbox didn't have triple-A titles their first years either. Uncharted and Resistance are are just the tip of the iceberg in relation to what this handheld will be able to provide. In fact, Resistance offers BETTER control in some instances with how easy it is to throw grenades, melee, and with its cover system (something a majority of console shooters STILL don't have).
So to answer your question, a resounding yes. And that's with knowing that these games will only get better. To expect launch window software to equal or exceed console games that are six years into current console life cycles is ridiculous. In fact, the Uncharted experience is almost identical to the original Uncharted on PS3; very good graphics, with the action taking place largely in a singular location (the jungle).Comment

I'm a little underwhelmed at Vita so far. Maybe it's because they had so many launch titles, but since then nothing is really grabbing at my heart strings. The no NHL and NCAA this summer/fall disappointed me also. And hearing Madden isn't going to have all the feature the console has was a let down.
I thought I'd love the show on it but I just play it on PS3 when I play the show. Uncharted was good but I beat that. HSG got too difficult for my taste. Unit 13 was fun but I got bored after awhile.
I guess I'm looking to be wowed and it hasn't happened yet. I think back to 360 launch and how it wasn't as strong as it became so that give me hope, but right now I'm not 100% sold that it's a great device for me.Comment
