Re: PSVITA Handheld Information
Here’s how it works. If you have a physical Vita cartridge and buy it new, you can pop it into your Vita and earn trophies for all of your accomplishments. If you buy the game used, you can’t earn any trophies as you play. Only the original owner can. However, if the original owner gets a second Vita, it is possible to authorize the game to allow the second Vita to earn trophies, provided you log into the same PSN account on both systems.
So I guess Sony is thinking Trophies are a big enough deal to some people to convince them to pay $5-$10 more for a game just to earn them. Personally, I think it’s a pretty stupid idea. I mean, it’s just a little notation on a profile saying you did something. It’s not like you earn some kind of reward in the game.
This helpful tidbit came from the English Vita user guide. A few other interesting tidbits came up as well. Apparently, you get 3-5 hours of gameplay from a single charge, depending on how bright the screen is, if you have headphones on, if WiFi is on and if you’re using Bluetooth. Also, if a game saves to a Vita cartridge, you can’t back up that save data. Also, PSP save data can be transferred to a Vita, so you can pick up where you left off in your existing games. So when it comes to battery life and save data, it actually has some things in common with the 3DS!Last edited by CaptainZombie; 12-20-2011, 12:40 PM.Comment

Re: PSVITA Handheld Information
The Vita sounds cool, but I just don't know how much I would actually use it. I have a PSP that gets zero use, aside from when I go on trips, and that is mostly to watch UMD movies, of which I have over 50. No way I'm trading all of that in, as I'd get creamed by GS with the values, so I'd still have to shell out a lot of money for the Vita and then try and build back up a movie library.
Sharing save files for sports games is great (the PSP did this with Madden on the PS2 for a few years), but again, just not sure how much I'd use that feature, since I'd just play the PS3 if I wanted to play The Show or Madden.Currently Playing:

Re: PSVITA Handheld Information
Correct. And we can't have both accounts on one Vita either like we do on PS3. This won't stop me from getting one, and i get why Sony is doing this, but single account setup and non-sharing of games blows.Comment

Re: PSVITA Handheld Information
Nope, I'm going U.S. release all the way.
So does anyone know if Sony is planning on making this either A) a controller for PS3 games or B) a unit that can project our game on our big screen? I know that the WiiU is supposed to do one of these two, I can't remember which... but whichever it was that they showed at E3, Sony basically responded by saying "Our thing can do that too." I don't know if it really can though, but it would be nice to see exactly what compatibility with the PS3 this thing truly has.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: PSVITA Handheld Information
I'm not really keen on using it as a PS3 controller unless the touch controls were utilized somehow, and the Vita doesn't have pressure-sensitive buttons like the Sixaxis, does it? Playing the games on a TV screen does sound interesting though - I know the later PSP models had video out, but I've always had a PSP-1000 that came before that feature.
I was really just asking which feature it was that the WiiU offers. It duplicates your screen, right? Or, something like that? I wonder if this thing, as Sony said it at least had the potential of doing, can either duplicate your Vita screen on your TV, or can duplicate your PS3 game onto your Vita.
Time will tell on this one...Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Yeah, I don't really want to use it as a controller either unless, as you said, a PS3 game can be minimized on our screen or something (or think in the Dreamcast days where you could call plays on the VMU).
