I probably will pick up a travel case, but is a screen protector needed for the Vita? I tend to lean towards keeping my portable electronics naked, but wasn't sure if the Vita was prone to scratches.

I don't use one. I know 42 doesn't. It is way more durable than the PSP was. And I have yet to see any scratches.

I love how the screen looks too much to cover it. Especially never getting to enjoy its full visual quality as long as you own it if you have a protector on.

Same for my iPhone 4s. Not covered, and no scratches, and enjoying its full beauty.

I have a hori screen protector on mine and unless I specifically look for the edges I can't even tell it's there. I do have a couple of small scratches on the back, not sure where from specifically since typically if I'm not playing it it's in it's case.

Same here, don't use one never will.. I'm the only one who uses my vita and I don't scratch it..

I have no screen protector but it always stays in the case when I am not playing. I just think those screen protectors distort the screen. I know they probably don't but still don't like the screen protectors.

Seriously though I have no issues with mine. 1 small bublle on the far right that isn't visible when playing. It's really to protect from smearing from fingers more so than scratches IMO but it protects it from that also.

Thanks everyone for your own perspective. I'm just glad i get to use my buy 2 new games get one free coupon from Best Buy Gamer Zone. I would have used it all ready but it only allows for games up to 39.99 which is perfect for Vita.

I use the screen protector. I will sacrifice a little whatever of what I don't notice I'm sacrificing to make sure I won't have to buy a whole new Vita if I do scratch it.

Anyway, I bought Tomba a couple of days ago, and just didn't put it down. Brings back the days of playing it on PSX. I had beaten it before in my youth, but wasn't able to complete every events then. This time, I beat it in seven hours and completed all 130 events. I assume it's because I remember most of the game so it was easier, and anyone else who plays it for the first time wouldn't be able to beat it under ten hours (provided you don't use any walkthroughs).

Such a fun title, and was so deserving to play on Vita! I only wish trophies could somehow be included.

I absurdly hate screen protectors. Nothing that they do outweighs the bubbles and slight viewing quality downgrade. If I'm not using my Vita, it goes in its case.

I know a lot of it is my OCD, but screen protectors are the devil... lol.

Agreed. I used to use them. Used them until I got rid of the device. Then I stopped because to me, what is the point of having these gorgeous screens, when you never take advantage of its full visual look.

Any micro fiber or lens towel for glasses clean the Vita or iPhone screen remarkably, in mere seconds. Without a scratch. The gorilla glass coating is pretty darn durable. Unless your careless and rough.

Also those plastic film protectors look even worse after some time cause they effectively absorb a lot of the smudges after a while, and get much more micro scratches from cleaning.

The HTC One X and don't use a screen protector.. It has gorilla glass and it's build like a beast.. Miss have the phone in my pocket with change, keys and still have not one scratch.. Screen protectors are really is less these days...

I have zero bubbles, and they look nothing like the crap iPhone screen protectors I have seen.

Keep in mind that, when I first got my Vita, I went without the screen protector for the first night. I saw no visual difference after putting it on.

Does anyone else just get..... so much deeper into the game when they are wearing headphones. I usually don't get to use headphones cause I'm playing while I'm in the room talking to my girl, or while I'm at work but when I do get to use headphones the experience is just so much better.

Same here. And the sound is so phenomenal with good headphones.
