    Re: Sony PSVITA Discussion

It's a nice feature for those of us that own a Vita, but I don't see how it saves the Vita. It would need to come down in price significantly. Not many are going to drop another $200 on top of the $400 or more for PS4 just to have remote play.

      Re: Sony PSVITA Discussion

i'm a little confused about the ps4 and remote play. i remember reading when the vita came out that remote play would be possible on some ps3 games, but that the resolution won't be as nice and there would be issues with framerate. clearly the ps4 and its games will be much more complex than the ps3, so it wouldn't be able to handle its graphics or framerate?

i'm mainly a MLB The Show player & love the idea of getting next gen gameplay & graphics on my vita, but am wondering if remote playing it on my vita can be any better than this years vita version of the game will be.

and i won't have to purchase vita games anymore, since i can remote play my ps4 games which will be better quality?

The PS4 news definitely puts the lack of some games on Vita into context. NBA 2K, NHL, etc.

If you can stream games from the PS4 to your Vita that is the future of the device and not PS 3.5 quality titles.

The key will be how accessible that feature is, does the stream really work with low latency? Can I walk into a Starbucks and play a PS4 game on my Vita over their network? Or is this for home use only? Honestly if it only works at home on local play it doesn't really titillate me.

Being able to play games on my vita from my PS4???? One word comes to mind "Brilliant" With this feature I could see myself getting down to one system as my time is really getting limited these days with kids sports almost every night and a 6 month old. This may be an answer for all my gaming needs

Absolutely not. There would not be enough bandwidth to push those kind of graphics over the internet. This would probably only work at home when both devices (PS4 and Vita) are connected to the same network.

Which is completely fine with me. I play my Vita at home all the time anyway.

PS Vita resolution is only just above 480p (480p is 854x480, Vita is 960x544), easy enough to stream that. Problem is really latency, which can be pretty bad on some congested WiFi spots, so control precision can get spotty.

No price cut for US Vita coming.

Amid all the PlayStation 4 news, some folks were hoping to get a bit of extra PS Vita intel -- specifically, confirmation of a price drop in the United States. Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida, however, said no such thing is on the cards.

Talking with Joystiq, the executive blamed the exchange rate for the reason why Japan gets a cut and we don't. He had nothing else to say on the matter, and was blunt enough to suggest it's not something we'll see brought up by Sony anytime soon.

Do you guys think the vita will get a re-design (probably slimmer) to parallel with the release of the ps4? I'm wondering this because the vita is going to be an integral part of the ps4 with remote play.

I doubt you will ever see a major change in the Vita, and I really don't think, looking at teardowns, that it will get any slimmer. There's nothing they can really take away or chips to combine, so any revisions will be minor, even less so than the PSP revision (which shed like 4mm and chunk of mostly battery weight).

No price cut is very disappointing. I would consider buying if it was under $200, but at the current price, no thanks. Hopefully it goes down by the time PS4 comes out.

devilsjaw you can find some killer deals on Craigslist. I bought one the other day for my son for $120 and it was "Flawless" Came with box/manual/receipt. Not even 2 mos old. Guy just didn't want it and was looking for a quick sale.

I may need to go that route. I just looked up the VITA and saw the price tag and was going to come here and ask if there are any rumored price drops.

I want one, but not for more than what a new PS3 or 360 costs.

edit: did some searching and the cheapest I can find people selling for is $200 with a few games.. meh.

$200 is not a bad price with games, this handheld is a beast, I mean we can't expect Sony to sell it for $100 bucks, even I wouldn't do that with whats under the hood and the screen it has. They have to make something on it.

My point was that buying something second hand, even for decent condition isn't really worth it for $50 less in my mind. I always prefer having things new so I know all about the warranty and such.

$175 would have looked a lot better to me. I texted the guy anyways to see what games come with it. If he's close by work, I'll check it out and see.
