    Re: Sony PSVITA Discussion

PSP titles that don't have the PSP/Vita logos on them in the PS Store cannot be played on the Vita, correct? Reason I ask is that MGS Portable Ops is on the PS Store (was on my PS3 last night) but it was only listed as PSP.

Don't want to buy it if I can't transfer it to my Vita.

It was pretty abysmal showing at E3. I think at Gamescom they might announce a few things like they do every year. This is the current list of some upcoming games.

Firmware won't make a difference because you can't access the store to download it without the latest version.

You'd be able to download the PSP game to PS3, but you aren't going to be able to get it over to the Vita.

If you happen to still have a PSP, by all means you can play it.

Tales of Hearts, Disgaea 4, BlazBlue, maybe Ratchet, and at least one of those indies (Binding of Isaac: Rebirth) for me out of that list. Need to see more about Freedom Wars but that sounds interesting as well.

What's BlazBlue? Is that a 2D fighter? I seem to remember always setting a box at the store for it (on ps3?) but I never checked it out really.

Yep, 2D anime-style fighter. Think Guilty Gear and you've pretty much got the idea (though I've never played that series). Same developer.

Has a history of 3 games of plot behind it by now, so I'm getting it as much for the story as the fighting. It's the same reason I'd consider getting that Persona 4 Ultimax for PS3 later on.

I played the hell out of BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend for a while. I don't think I would've ever tried it if not for getting it as a PS+ perk, but I'm glad I did. I wish more games adopted this visual style.

I think that's less likely than ever, with even Sony admitting they're not putting any significant development effort into the console anymore.

‘Are you going to see huge mega budget PS Vita games that we have developed and we publish? I think that’s unlikely. That said, PS Vita does play an increasingly important role in our ecosystem, with Remote Play [playing PlayStation 4 games wirelessly via the Vita] and PlayStation Now [a forthcoming streaming for PlayStation 3 titles].’

It's an indie/mobile games handheld and portal to the main Sony platform now.

So, due to stocking issues (and the new Vita being delayed finally hitting shelves...)

The Vita saw over 1600% sales increase in month-over-month this month. Most of them sold were the BL2 bundle.

They went from ~3k units sold 2 tracking periods ago to ~56k units sold (still not good, but good for them) last tracking period.

They just need to start supporting it and it would sell. The 3DS was considered a huge, point-blank failure for over a year and it just beat out the XBOne in sales last month. Granted, the XBO sales were most likely down due to the announced Kinect-less bundle, but damn. There's nothing wrong with the Vita on the hardware/price side. Sony just needs to actually support their machine instead of trying to make it a stupid remote-play only hardware that may get a game occasionally.

Yeah, the 3DS got off to a real slow start, but once Nintendo wised up and dropped the price and also released its trademark excellent first-party games, the system began to sell like gangbusters.

The Vita really is a great piece of technology and I'm glad that the sales figures for the Slim model are off to a good start. I just think Sony is misguided if they believe Vita's will continue to sell based on it being a platform for indie games and PS4 remote play. To me, that's going to turn more people away from the Vita than towards it.

I really hope Sony doesn't shut the door completely on AAA games and we'll see some released in the next 2-4 years.

I almost picked up one of these last night. EB has a deal right now where you get extra trade in credit when you trade in a system towards a new system/handheld. I was going to trade in my PS3 (plus some cash) for a vita. But the good ol boys at EB were able to talk me out of it. I was set on getting the new slim model but they just hammered me on why it was crap compared to the old vita and said I should buy a used older vita instead. I then took my PS3 off the counter and left the store....LOL. I have until July 6th when this deal expires.

My PS3 is just a paper weight right now, i still have a PS2 and original first gen Xbox in mint condition in the boxes in my closet that I was to hesitant to trade in when PS3/360 came out. Now I cant get a bag a chips for them. I don't want the same thing to happen with my PS3. I want to get something for it while I still can but spend the least cash out of my pocket. So trading a PS3 towards a XB1 or WiiU is not an option and the Vita made perfect sense because its the least money I'd have to spend out of my pocket.

Go back and trade it in and get the Vita. There is nothing wrong with the Slim model; in fact there are several improvements from the original version. Yes, the screen changed to LCD from OLED but you can ask people here that own it; the screen looks just fine. I've been considering swapping my launch Vita for a slim, just for the extra battery life and slightly better ergonomic design.

They also said that the new slim is made of cheaper plastic and you can actually hear the slim vita making a "cracking" sound when you play it...LOL.

I should really go into that store with ear plugs.
