    Re: Sony PSVITA Discussion

So, I'm on day three with the Vita. I returned my B2G1 deal back to Best Buy as I was a little unsure of the games I would actually play. Plus, the fact of spending $250 for the Vita, and an additional $90 seemed like quite an investment. I know for certain once The Show releases, that'll be pretty much occupy all my Vita time. So, I elected to set up a gamefly account and rent one game at a time.

In the meantime, I played the demo of Fifa, and I just couldn't recapture that initial excitement I had playing it the first couple times. If I'm home one the couch, I'd much rather play my PS3 and Fifa 12.....which is what I ultimately did. I proceeded to play NBA 2K12 after that and had a more enjoyable time. So, what I have discovered is that more than likely I'm always going to opt to play on the PS3 than the Vita when I'm at home. I suppose I might play a little while watching a game on tv...we'll see.

I didn't mean for this to come off as downer post, or a rant, but where I think this system is obviously going to shine is when I'm away from the home. Maybe laying in bed perhaps.

Or maybe I just haven't found that game to capture my heart. Thank goodness for demos, because it convinced me that soccer on the portable is not my cup of tea. Nor is Lumines anymore as I suppose I'm a bit too used to the cheap mobile games I can play on the iPad. I'm looking forward to my rental of Virtua Tennis 4 and Hot Shots Golf still has me quite intrigued.

My excitement is still there for the Vita, but I feel as though I will reap more enjoyment out of it if I take it on the go.....as is the main reason for owning one, right?!

Personally I am going to use the 4GB card until I find a good deal on at least 16 GB, if not 32.

On a side note, out of warranty repair through Sony is $130, for those thinking about an extended warranty.
Thank you. I will be pulling the trigger this afternoon. Now I just need to figure out what three games I want.

Adding my impressions of some of the games I have.

Wipeout: I'm loving this game. Amazing graphics and a showcase for the system. I really like the new tracks.

Hot Shots Golf: Fun, but a little disappointed in the visuals. Kind of grainy. I've only played for about an hour, but so far seems more of what I've played in the past. Good, not great.

Rayman: Fluid gameplay and looks great.

I think the Vita has had a strong launch. There are 6 or 7 solid games and The Show is about to land. I have absolutely no regrets for buying it.

It only charges by usb when the Vita is OFF, not ON (stupid but its that way).

The PS3 version of The Show should include a steep discount on the digital Vita version.

Otherwise I can't see myself buying both versions year after year. All games that are released on both systems should give you a discount if you buy both. As it stands I don't know which version of The Show I should buy.

I agree. I will start my career on the Vita and eventually once the price drops, pick up the PS3 version. If they did a bundle discount then I would be able to justify it. But right now as it stands, I can't throw down another $100 for the two.

Seriously I was just contemplating this exact same thing. (Slow day at work ) But really, I can't believe I'm thinking passing up the PS3 version for the Vita version. I can't really afford both now that I've spent the few discretionary funds I did have on the vita and some accessories. Well I could afford it but I'm not so sure it's justified for my gaming habits during the summer months.

The vita version would probably see more time for me as we take a ton of vacation time off during the summer and it'll be all I play. But....I don't know, decisions decisions....

I want to watch baseball while playing my franchise. When friends and family are over I want to be able to use my PS3. I'm torn.

Talk about a 1st world problem... lol

                    Dear Sony,
If your reading this you can have $75 total from me ($60 for PS3 + $15 for Vita) or you can have $40 for the Vita version. It's up to you.

USB doesn't supply enough power, it only supplies 1/3 of the current of the AC adapter.

Most of my products don't break within the first year, if ever. If I buy one, it's going to be the 2- or 3-year one. I figure the 3-year might not be as worth it because you might as well buy a new Vita at that point (might be $150 by then for all we know), so I'm probably going to do the 2-year APP.

-8 today on the 7th hot shots tournament. I should've had a -9 but I missed my 8th hole putt by like an inch.

I forgot how incredibly difficult Super Stardust is. Not that it's a hard game per se, but you have to pass five stages/phases without dying three times (though I haven't a clue where the life gauge is), and the first time for me is always a "practice round" because I never know how it is you're supposed to fight the boss guy on the final phase.

Nevertheless, it's still a fantastic game, and should tide me over just fine until The Show comes out!

I picked up the 3 year accident plan from Target (I have an 8 and 10 year old in my house). Total cost for comprehensive coverage was $55. Not bad IMO.

Anyone know if there's a way to check the exact battery percentage remaining like on the original PSP? I popped in Lumines last night, played a bit and put it to sleep, picked it up again and have been playing all morning. It's my first crack at this one and Ive been playing seemingly forever, lol. Seems like the Vita was going to die before I did so I'm charging it, but wondering if there's a way to know exact battery left.
