Plaustation Home is one of those ideas that had potential but never really quite got the formula right.

I tried PS Home the other day (hadn't used it since the Beta) and I quit out after 3 minutes.

They've redesigned it 3? times since beta, and not only will it probably not make it to Vita, I'd be surprised if it makes it to the PS4.

Home is an overreaction to 360 avatars/Miis that should have been scaled back in scope years ago.

The only way Home could have been that successful is if they significantly reduced the load time and made you able to boot up the PS3 straight into your apartment, using it as a UI to access other console functions (or access the XMB via your avatar's cell or watch).

Yeah, MGS2's controls just feel awkward when you go backwards. They make more sense if you played the original Metal Gear Solid first (you couldn't even crouch in that game, for example), but there's several basic controls it doesn't have that we just take for granted in games today.

For me, the hold-up was the most fascinating part to me about the MGS2 controls, back when I played it. Pretty sure that hadn't been done to that point, and I got more into trying to hold everyone up than being careful about surviving - and got killed far more than I should have because of it.

This is spot on, and even the camera is bad

I understand that was just about all there was at the time but these games have come a long long way

I enjoy it, I don't sit there for hours playing it, but with the latest update, it's made it a lot better than it used to be.

Just got my copy of MGS today. Looking forward to using cross-platform saves for MGS 2&3. It's been years since I've played either game; should be a lot of fun.

Not to derail this thread any more than necessary, Home was announced long before Avatars and actually dates back to the PS2.

Home actually does show promise here and there, it just has some major faults holding it back. I can't say what Sony's economics of Home are, only Sony knows what thy pay to develop and maintain, but walk around Home and you'll see people drop some serious money in the place, and 3rd party people keep making new items and spaces so it can't be considered a complete failure (it does seem to be more popular in Japan, it was quite a bit more crowded the one time I bothered downloading and wandering around, I've never looked at the Euro version).

                        Re: Sony PSVITA Discussion

I fired up my PS3 MGS HD edition just to see the transfarring stuff, and it looks like in addition to the PS3-Vita connectivity, there is a cloud save feature as well. Those who have played the Show should be familiar with this - it's independent of PS Plus (you don't need it, in other words), and it allows you to store a backup of a file from either system on the cloud.

Downside: For any files that you save to the cloud, trophies will be disabled if said file was created before the transfarring patch came out (i.e. about 3 days ago). So, if you were hoping to continue a game from the PS3 version back when it came out, you'd have to do so without trophies, it seems.

Not sure I understand that limitation.

Any chance we get a good RPG on the Vita? (Skyrim/Fallout/Mass effect)

Bethesda said at one point they would support it if it was powerful enough to run the games without sacrificing too much for performance, which is a bar Vita seems to easily clear. Bethesda also seems really interested in portable titles, they started a scaled back Oblivion for the PSP but scrapped it because the PSP wasn't powerful enough to get close enough to the full experience, so that's also a plus. Nothing specific even hinted at though.

As far as known games, there's Soul Sacrifice and several other JRPGs in the works.

I am still really digging Gravity Rush, but the boss battles are a little too sloppy for my liking. The game is at its best when you're just flying around.

I'm torn. I don't have funds right now but I do have some rewards points coming to me from my Chef rewards.

They have MGS hd for both the ps3 AND vita. I only have enough to get one of the two.

                                Thoughts?
