Any ps3 gamers try sony's ps3 7.1 set? I am considering these for the new batman game when the family is asleep.

I snagged a pair at TRU when they were on sale, and i must say that for the price and the convenience of wireless, they cannot be beat. There are better wireless out there, but get ready to spend double or triple the cost.

They fit very comfortably around your ear, and i feel no strain after hours of wearing them, (very surprised with quality of leather). The mic slides in and out, but feels a bit cheaply made, so be careful with it. Rest of headphone feels solid. The virtual sound is good, no complaints. There might be not enough bass for some, but it's good enough overall. I have no problems with any hissing or static, although i have very minimal interference with other devices. I find the set very quiet overall during load screens and such. The mic is crystal clear online, no issues.

As is, you will not find a better wireless headset at this price point for the PS3. It's surprisingly good, and actually exceeded all my expectations.

I think I am gonna pick up the Tritton AX Pro's here soon.

Does anyone know if I should notice a solid upgrade from the 720's?

Edit: After looking at the DPX21's I'm not sure which to get. Anyone have any experience with the AX Pro's and DPX21's?

I've been using the Turtle Beach X11's for over a year now and was wondering if anyone here had the Astro A40's and if so, what they thought of them?

My wife had been using wireless Sennheisers for a couple of years now, and she'd have to fit a small in-ear rig for chat that was uncomfortable but workable.

Decided to surprise her last week with a new wireless 360 headset. She's a huge COD fan so I bought her the TB EarForce Delta MW3 rig. She just loves it.

I was so impressed with it myself that I got the same thing in 'vanilla' (XP500) for a little cheaper. Works brilliantly with my Battlefield 3 games, or anything else I've played so far. Quite comfy, great sound.

Now we can play our 360s in the same room without messing each other up on sound...pretty cool!

UPDATE: After spending a week with the TB Xp500's, looks like my transmitter is bad. Even when headset is off and passing the digital optical thru the unit, it drops audio signal completely for a second to two seconds at random intervals thru my audio system. Thought it might be network, so I shut off the router completely, still does it. Not a wireless issue, defect in the transmitter. My wife's doesn't do this.

So, my wife's Delta set is still doing fine. We had two instances of RF interference this weekend which interrupted us both for a few seconds, but I think she can live with that.

But my XP500's are going back to Best Buy for a refund. I could just get an exchange and that audio-drop out problem will be solved, but I think I'll go with a wired rig for myself for the following reasons:

--Wired still gets better fidelity and stronger bass (in most cases). Wireless has come a long ways, but I can still hear the limitations. I'm a borderline audiophile so I can hear every damn thing LOL. Don't get me wrong tho...XP500's/Deltas sound really nice for wireless.

--Batteries...between my wife and I, that's just too many AA's to go through lol. I might get her some rechargeables at some point, depending on her useage.

--RF interference will be a non-factor.

So...I'll get my 269.00 back from the XP500's and go with the Astro A40 rig, based on my research that sounds like a great setup for me. I'll report in once they land.

I had the PX5's and they did the same thing.

I ended up with the PX3's, they are stereo (which unless there are multiple speakers in the headset itself, is really a non-factor from all my testing) and use rechargable batteries. Love the sound, no drop outs (since they operate over 2.4ghz) and just a great headset.

I only wish I could remove the mic from it like you can the X41's and PX5's.

I only wish I could remove the mic from it like you can the X41's and PX5's.

To my understanding, the Deltas/XP500's just have two diaphragms as well (stereo) but Dolby Headphone processing is pretty amazing tech. I got very convincing soundfields and great placement w/the TB sets. The A40's are set up the same way.

The Tritton AXPros are one that use multiple diaphragms though.

I just got a new wireless router and placed it behind my TV, now it interferes with my PX5's. If I had a dual band wireless router, would that allow me to change the frequency of the wireless so that it won't interfere?

I don't think PS3 accepts the 5ghz bandwidth, not the slims anyway. I know the original 360's use to accept both, but the new models they came out last year only accepts the 2.4ghz.

Yeah TB's are great while they last. I had two pairs, one lasted 3 days, the other pair lasted 1 month.

Had my Trittons for about two years with no issues.

I must have the luck of the Irish, my X11's still going strong for over a year now. But I have had some friends who can't catch a break with any brand of headset they buy, after 2 weeks it either completely dies or something breaks on them.

The newer ones may have better parts. The ones I had a few years back were just made cheap.

You can definately notice the difference between stereo and virtual surround sound. With Stereo you cannot pick up sounds from the back.

Sound quality between px5 and px3 is night and day.

Not going to debate my own ears but I found the sound difference to be so little especially for the price difference. Definitely didn't find the sound difference night and day. Actually like the PX3 sound better. To each their own.

Sound is very subjective. I worked in audio/video retail and speaker repairs for years. I found no one headphone or one speaker sounded BEST to everyone, hence why there's so many different brands and models out there. Every set of ears and sensibilities are a little different. Some people liked brighter sounding stuff, some more bass, some with strong midrange, on and on...

My Astro A40 setup is ordered, can't wait!
