These sound great, feel great and aren't made of cheap plastic. But they don't have volume control for console (have to use ps4 xontrols) and our Mic died after 3 months. They had us test the Mic to see if our PC could use it and it wasn't recording anything so Kingston said they would send out another Mic. But they forgot to send it so had to call back. Finally get one after a month and it still doesn't work. It's a detachable Mic so I suppose it should work when plugged into PC but this one doesn't either. Either that's a dumb test or the headset fails at the connection or the new Mic is also broken . Frustrated right now because we shouldn't have an issue after only 3 months with the thing.

As for Sony golds I heard very good things about them other than they are made with cheap plastic and the headband will crack by six months no matter how careful you are if you use them regularly. That scared me away.

I've had my Golds since they came out (around March 2014) and while they feel flimsy as **** now, nothing has broken or so much as cracked on me.

Their construction leaves something to be desired but you can't beat the price.

Is there any way to increase the mic-monitoring on the Astro A50s does anyone know? I can't hear myself usually unless the microphone is like literally in my mouth, LOL.

So I'm looking for a budget headset that plugs into the PS4 controller. I've been browsing Amazon and there are a ton of headsets in the $20-30 range. Some have decent reviews and a lot have mixed reviews. Most are brands I've never heard of so I don't know if any of them are trustworthy.

So I guess I'm asking if there are any good ones at this price point?

We have a Tritton basic one for $30 and it works fairly well. It's not comfortable for long stretches but the sound is decent and it works. http://www.amazon.com/TRITTON-Stereo...ywords=Tritton

We bought my son a Cloud 2 headset which was $120C and that headset had great sound and super comfortable. But the connection wire keeps going. After 3 months the Mic wouldn't work right. Got a full replacement through warranty and this next one lasted one month. Freaking brutal as this one now has sound that bounces between clear and fuzzy unless you push on the connection to DS4. I'm not sure how many expensive ones I trust to last a lifetime no time. I'm very hesitant to pay good money for any headset anymore.

              Thanks Rudy.

I found these at Walmart today and they had them out so you could demo them and they seemed pretty good for a $30 headset.

Anyone have these? I think I might get them.

Any recommendations for a wireless headset for both consoles? I have the wired Turtle Set, PX24. (Sound is excellent) Though I would prefer wireless. Anybody' help would be greatly appreciated!

If you are looking for one that is wireless for both, that unicorn doesn't exist unfortunately. You will need two separate sets.

I have the original PX5 I got like 5ish years ago now....it has interference which gets annoying....

I now more just use my older Razer Carcharias PC headset, I got a cable that takes the mic and headphone cables and turns it into the cell phone one that works on a controller....

Honestly that's more comfy and feels better than the PX5. Because it's PC it has a really long cord I had to tie up, so that's minorly annoying, but I can deal with it.

I've realized I don't really need the fake surround sound stuff....I'm ok with normal sound.

Darn, guess I will stick with the wired. Thanks for the reply.

I have the Astro A50's, I just run the digital cable from the TV and plug the headset into either controller to chat.
I've heard this "patience is a virtue" junk all my life. I'm happy to say I have no virtue, no scruples, and no desire to wait too long for anything. In my humble opinion instant gratification takes too long!

I don't know about the older A50s but the newer one doesn't need a chat cable for the PS4. Doesn't matter which model you get - PS4, green Xbox One version, any of them. They all work fine with this setup. Just need to plug it in to a USB port. Should recognize it as a mic.

When I used the A50 I left it plugged into the ps4 all the time. I then bought a digital audio switch and connected the Xbox and ps4 into it and then ran the out cable from the switch to the A50 receiver.

If I wanted to use PS4 I just changed the switch to ps4 and played. Nothing else needed.

If I wanted to use Xbox one I changed the audio switch to the Xbox one and then plugged in the chat cable.

Sorry I should have clarified, you can get wireless sound with a single headset for both with a digital optical switch as sbauer said...however for chat it will only be wireless for the system the headset was made for. would need a wire to the other consoles controller to chat.
