      Re: Gaming headsets

Needed to upgrade my TB X-4s and after reading through this thread did some research into different headsets.

My son is in the same boat and he is considering the AKG 701. I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the Astro A50 model. Really impressed with them so far although the download of the new firmware was somewhat of a pain for me because of VISTA on my desktop.

Did finally get the firmware upgrade after dragging my laptop out of the closet. The download process of the new firmware does not seem to like IE either as it worked fine when I used Firefox with windows 7. I'll almost be glad when my desktop
breaks so I can get a new one.

Sad to report my A50s stopped syncing this afternoon with the transmitter. I knew I should of taken my a$$ to work. Pissed off is a understatement. I take my headset back to Gamestop and they are out. I'm really ticked off now and they tell me to return them there and they will let me know when more come in so I choose to just do that. Just as I was walking out the store the mgr says we just got these in and if I would be interested.

He said if I'm not happy with them to just return them. I just don't believe that these will be better than my A50s. Don't even feel like trying these out because I'm so upset//disgusted.

Messed around with these Trittons and even though they are pretty good they can't touch what Astro has going on with the A50s. These are pretty good sound wise but uncomfortable as hell. They are so snug/tight that my jaws started hurting within 10 minutes.

Found another set of A50s across the river in Kentucky at another Gamestop. The Astros are that good that I am gonna make the 45 drive after work.

Don't you have a Best Buy? Mine always has plenty of A50s and A40s in stock.

Didn't even think about BB. Probably stick with Gamestop since half is store credit

                    Re: Gaming headsets

I'm pretty pissed off here. I got the TB X12 from Best Buy on Thanksgiving since they were only $35. I set up everything and I got to plug the audio cables into my tv and nothing works. I tried all 3 rca cable inputs. Then I see I am supposed to plug them into the audio OUT jacks. Well I don't have those. My tv is an LG about 2 and a half years old. So is this odd or what?

I also wanted to mention that when the headset got powered up there was unbearable hissing or just static I guess. Didn't get to see if that went away when you played a game.

I think I am just going to return them unless someone can help me. I can't afford a fancy wireless set so I figured this would be cool.

Not sure I quite understand what it is you're describing, but if it's anything like my problem I had with my old TB X1's I bought this to connect them...

I could then connect them properly to my 360 to get the sound.

Not sure this addresses your problem properly but I figured I'd try.

As for your static issues, I remember reading a lot about that problem on TB message boards. Just google search "turtle beach x12 static noise xbox 360". You should see many solutions.

Just checked them out $20 might be too much to get a $35 headset to work. I might just save up for a nicer pair.

Thanks man. I think that might work because it shows something like that in the manual as one way to set it up.

I just can't believe my TV doesn't have audio out RCA.

No worries my man, I have a 2 or so year old 47" LG that I used to game on and I was having an almost exact same problem as you with my TB's. I looked around and found that thing as a solution.

The static thing, just look it up as I suggested because it can be a multitude of things, like a connected rechargeable controller for instance.

BTW, that connection fix may seem simpler than it actually is (hard to explain) but I'm gonna pm you a pic of the connection setup that I took.

+ Posted by Richard Ho // Associate Product Marketing Manager

Tomorrow, we’re releasing a free App to support the addition of new audio Modes for PULSE wireless stereo headset – Elite Edition. To make your listening experience more dynamic, BassImpact has been added to new Modes for games, movies and music. In some instances, the sound profiles of the original movie or music scores have been adjusted to emphasize certain sounds.

As you know from watching our video walkthrough back in September there are currently six different default audio Modes available: Game, Shooter, Racing, Fighting, Music and Movie.

This new app will add five new Modes to your already enhanced audio experience:
                            • Football (Game):
BassImpact lets you feel the crunch of bone-crushing tackles or jolts behind every kick of the football
                            • Horror (Movie):
Deep bass sounds are enhanced to heighten the eerie atmosphere while the high shrill of screams are boosted to make you jump out of your seat.
                            • Action (Movie):
The low and high sounds of explosions and gunfire are magnified delivering a bigger and more intense audio experience.
                            • Techno (Music):
The lows of bass beats and highs of synthesizers are amplified enhancing the audio experience.
                            • Hip Hop (Music):
Hear the kick of low bass combined with crisp sounds of vocals.

Pulse – Elite Edition Manager will be available for download on the PS3 Apps page of PS Store on December 18th. For more details, click here.

I bought the Pulse, and returned it. The pulse feature itself was kind of like a threshold piece more than a natural kick in that plays at a proper amount. In other words, it's kind of "all or nothing."

I might get it again if I think I need it, but I already have over-the-ear headphones.

I returned them as well. Loved them at first, but they were just too damn heavy.

After trying almost every set out there, I have settled on the Turtle Beach Limited Edition Black Ops Ear Force X-rays.

The sound quality is absolutely incredible, and they are the most comfortable cans I've ever tried. Plus, rechargeable battery with a 15 hr battery life, and they come with a 15' USB charging cable so I can keep on playing if they die mid-session.

They are on sale at BBY for $159.99 right now (normally $199.99). I would recommend anyone looking for a quality headset to check these out.

Between the X-rays, and the M1 ear buds I picked up for my vita ($23.99 on sale from $59.99), I am completely sold now on the quality of Turtle Beach products.
