    PS3 network settings problems

So, my wife bought me a PS3 today! Yess! Everything is great, but I can't connect to my wireless internet connection.

I have a Belkin router, and my laptop is connected there and there are no problems with the laptop. But I'm trying to set my PS3 connection, I select my wireless connection, I punch the password - but it wouldn't accept it.

I don't know what to do. I can connect to other wirelss connections - but I don't like connecting to other people's network, and since I have a router - there's no reason for that.

    Does anyone have any suggestion?

    Thanks!
    My Specs:

    ZX Spectrum
    CPU: Z80 @ 3.5 MHz
    GPU: Monochrome display
    RAM: 48 KB
    OS: Sinclair BASIC

Depending on the type of encryption you're using, are you putting in the spaces (especially for WPA) and watching those "o" 's for "0"'s. Also make sure UPnP is on.

Some times my iPhone 4 messes with my wireless with the PS3 and 360 Xbox, so I have to turn off my wifi for my cell phone.

Also check to make sure it is not under WEP. My wireless is under WEP not WPA. You can try that.

I did make sure to differentiate numbers from letters (0 and O), and small from caps (o and O). What is UPnP?

And it is not under WEP, but WPA (or whatever it's called).

So when you go to wireless connection does it have the modem listed in there? And what is the signal % it has for it?

I go to the wireless option, and it lists all the wireless connections available. The one my laptop is connected to, is listed there (it has my name on it, which is the one I'm using for the laptop) - and that's the one I was trying to connect to. The signal was between 80% and 100%.

Actually if it is not taking the password then it must be type in wrong. Make sure caps lock is off.

Another thing is to unplug the modem for about a minute and the try it again.

                      Re: PS3 network settings problems

Yeah, I've read some posts by people suggesting to reset the modem. But we'll see, my wife uses the laptop and I don't want to change anything unless I'm sure it doesn't cause her problems on the laptop.

This is exactly why I didn't study computer science or programming - there's always a problem, no matter how many problems you solve - there is always an additional one...lol.

Try putting in the password again. Then call ps3 network they can help you.

Is it giving you a DNS error?

UPnP is universal plug and play. It's weird because I know I have mine activated in my router control panel (sometimes you have to search where that bugger is in a sub-tab), but the PS3 network test is saying it's not on. I have also read some things where UPnP is not optimal to have on outside of game playing for security reasons. You do want to rule out other interference like wifi devices, microwave operating, etc. Also, are you able to test it wired?
