Oh I really doubt parents buy this in droves, considering they just bought their kids the DS-i and then the DS XL. Maybe you all know a lot of parents with a lot of money to burn. But the parents I know not going to drop another $200 on another DS again so soon. I mean the DS XL just came out in April or May right ?

Apples saving grace is that they have ipods at different prices from $75 to $249. With most kids getting the lower end models the most. Far as them not releasing it during the holidays, I don't know, probably couldn't make enough of them fast enough.

I can't speak for anywhere else other than NYC and the tri-state area. No matter what store I've shopped at during the holiday season, some mother/couple has one of Nintendo's consoles in their shopping cart.

Anyone pretty excited? I kind of am. I'm stuck in the past with a DS Lite, and I'd love to upgrade to the 3DS and sell the Lite. I'm also intrigued to see how Madden works on the 3DS.

i am!! im going to trade in my DS for this bad boy....what sucks is that i just know that they will be releasing a slightly thinner and bigger screened version of the 3DS...3DS light anyone? lol

the 3DS also has a very strong line up games coming out when released...

Merged them.

And pass. Way too expensive, and frankly, I have grown so sick of Nintendo. Not paying $40-50 for a portable game, especially ones with bad as graphics as Madden has.

Not to mention, I haven't even played my current DS Lite in over a year. Just no desire to turn the thing on.

I would probably get one if it wasn't region locked. I bounce around from NA and EU and want to have some flexibiliy.

That and I much prefer my PSP and will probably buy a PSP 2 on Day 1.

Nintendo is asking for it with pirating due to Region lock.

I'm also passing. The 3DS looks cool and all, but not something I'm interested in. If anything, I want to wait for PSP2 to see what is up with that and if not anything of interest, just grab a PSP (for the millionth time). I have a lot of PS1 classics and PSP minis due to PSN+ and they look like crap playing on a larger screen TV.

I'll get one eventually, but definitely not day one. I figure if I wait long enough Amazon or somebody will offer some deals on down the road maybe around the holiday season.

After looking at the launch titles (and some early summer titles) I don't see anything really of interest aside from SSFIV. If Metal Gear Solid 3 and Ocarina of Time were both launch titles I probably wouldn't be able to resist but for what is coming out day one I will pass.
