I went to Walmart today and used it for a bit. It was alright, but I wouldn't pay $250 for it. The thing about the 3d is that if I was looking at the guy flying and then looked at the ground, I had to re adjust my eyes to focus on it.

Re: Nintendo 3DS
I was at Best Buy and Walmart today, they had a boat load of these in stock. At $250 the 3DS will be hard to move and I just feel like all Nintendo does is continue to rehash titles over and over and over. At some point this business model will not work anymore imo, but I could be wrong.Comment

Re: Nintendo 3DS
I hate saying this, but I hope this turns out to be a failure for Nintendo so they can learn a lesson. I feel like they have made their bread and butter the last decade by releasing countless of rehashes and looking at this launch lineup, the evidence is there. I just look that the successor of the Wii will be something like Wii3D or 3DWii with slightly more power than what they have in the Wii. LOL!Comment

They've just released too many DS iterations over the last few years. DS, DS Lite, DSi, DSi XL, and now the 3DS. Just waaaay too many in a 4-5 year period.
I tried playing it again, even at a closer distance, the screen is just all blurry to me no matter where I set the 3D setting. Now I can't do 3D in theaters either as it gives me a migraine, but never this fast before.Comment

I'm done with Nintendo so I don't even care what it does. But I know I didn't feel bad it wasn't selling.

3D of all kinds tends to bug my eyes and one of the reasons why I skipped out on it when I bought my new TV a few months ago.Comment

Took a few pics with the 3d camera and they look pretty good. I keep the 3d slider a little less than half way up, anything higher and it looks too 3d if there is such a thing. Hurts my eyes.My Fan Page http://theusualgamer.net/MyFanPage_Heelfan71.aspx

Re: Nintendo 3DS
My son loves Mario and I never played past the first 1/4 of Zelda OOT, so I am not upset we got one. My kid has enough challenges with Autism so spending a little bit of my extra money on a 3DS isn't a big deal to me.
With that said: This machine has the potential to be another Gamecube. This is a terrible launch. The Rayman is pretty good, but just a 3d port of an old game (minus the voice work..wasn't John Legsomething or other in that game?) at a new gen price. Ghost Recon seems interesting, but I may get more out of Worms on XBLA. Lego Star Wars is neat, but nothing new. I think it doesn't bother me that it is launched this way as much as the arrogance the big N has. I purchased it....so I really wont complain too much. Reggie didn't put a gun to my head.DON'T PANICComment

Re: Nintendo 3DS
Got my gf one with Nintendogs and Lego Star Wars.
I'll get one too, but not until the Mario and Zelda titles hit. This launch lineup kinda sucked, lol.Comment

Re: Nintendo 3DS
The more I read about the terrible launch day and dissatisfaction, the more it makes me want to wait and cancel my pre-order. I'll probably wait for:
1.) When better games are released
2.) A price drop
3.) The inevitable upgraded 3DS Lite or whatever it'll be called
4.) NGPComment

Re: Nintendo 3DS
By October 3DS Lite will be available.....
Overall I think Nintendo was a little bit too full of themselves on this one. PSP was around $250 when it 1st came out and didn't sale too well because of that price.
Personally that is a little too much for a handheld for a kid who probably will drop that thing within the 1st 48 hours......
For that price you might as well get your kid a 360 or PS3 for $50 more. I also believe all the health hazards that was bombarded on the news, at least up here anyway all last week made a lot of parents not buy it for their child.
I think this device will go the way of the VR thing Nintendo tried to come out with in the 90s.
But if anybody can make something likeable, nintendo can, so who knows in the long run.Comment

It'll sell better near the holidays and when stuff like Mario Kart 3ds, Star Fox, Zelda, etc are out. I think Nintendo may have also hurt the 3ds in the eyes of the average consumer, who may just view this as another iteration in the tired DS line.Comment

Re: Nintendo 3DS
it's launching in March, is expensive, there's no huge launch title, and they can't really show off the 3d in ads. Nintendo also shipped like 1.6 million of them to retailers, which is just an insane number for a launch. The first DS launched with a third of that.

After our first day
+ The glasses-less 3d is an amazing bit of tech. I am impressed by it. It's not a giant killer, but it is well done.
+ My kids are both impressed by the carry over of Miis from the Wii. They have had some laughs with the mistakes the 3ds has with facial recognition. They also liked the 3d camera feature.
+ The analog stick feels good.
- Obviously the battery and launch lineup for gamers stinks.
- It feels more like DS 1.5 w/3d then a blow me away system. Maybe it's just the games. I remember when the 360 came out and I played Oblivion I felt like I had arrived at a new gen of tech. Even Blu-Ray left me feeling wowed. However, outside of the 3d this doesn't feel like a huge leap. Perhaps some of the games down the line will make it feel that way.
I am glad we have it, but would have liked to have seen more. I doubt 3ds lite will be out this year, but I hope they do something for the battery situation for first adaptors before rolling out the next version of the machine.DON'T PANICComment

Re: Nintendo 3DS
The only games I see that are getting good reviews are ghost recan, street fighter.
No advertising or anything for the 3ds on tv
I much rather get the NGP because of the exclusives and also like how Sony is doing the store and wireless thing on the NGPMiami Dolphins

Many of the comments in here remind me of the reactions to the iPhone, or iPad... we all know how that turned out.
